Jeremy Krull: melodies of aggressive truth

Jeremy Krull very long gap between updates: Jeremy says:

Hey all, ...
Lots of exciting things have been happening here:

I've actually been playing guitar and writing again thanks to a very dear friend of mine (who decided to light quite the fire under my ass). I've been in NJ for the past 3 days working on drum tracks for songs that I spent the entire week before that writing for an upcoming large label project of which I cannot reveal. All I can say is that if all goes according to plan, people who really like guitar playing will very much enjoy what's going on with that.

The new Dark Empire record is pretty much done, it is currently in limbo thanks to some unforeseen business problems on the other end of things however. That being said though, people who like that band, or most bands in that genre will be blown away by that record, as it is such a radical improvement and expansion of where the band went with the first record. We've spent the better part of 9 months making it (with respect to our personal schedules and all), and it will surely be a joy to put it out there for everyone to listen to and to have.

I'm doing two test mixes for an up and coming progressive/metal band hailing from the Atlanta, GA area (you may have seen their drummer's photographic prowess in some of my earlier pictures). Super nice guys who are being given the runaround by their current 'mixer' if you can even call him that, and even if I don't get the gig, it'll be a pleasure to have been able to work on their stuff.

I'll be heading back to Boston on the 10th, as I am tracking drums for the new Greg Burroughs/Redline Rednecks debut album. We'll be pillaging the almighty Mercenary Audio and their Meth Lab for this effort, special thanks to Fletcher for providing us with such an awesome vibe'd out place to hang our hats for the weekend. Greg and his band are a bunch of genuine great people, and this is the second (first real) country release I've been asked to work on, so it should be a welcome change from what you normally hear about from me. Even if he is a ginger :)

OH, and for all of my contacts and friends who will be at the Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, I will be there as well on behalf of NARAS. Come see me, I'll usually be around the Salwender International booth for Vigier Guitars. Hope to see you all there.

Which brings me to the last part of my bulletin, the sad-er part,

since almost 3 summers ago, I've been working with a former classmate from Berklee on recording and producing music for them. Throughout that time it's been a fun ride I guess, but it really turned shitty. I guess you know, as more time passes you really begin to learn a lot about a person and what really drives them, and how they function in a multitude of situations. As a producer/musician it's always hard to walk away from something, but I feel that the longer I stay involved with this person, the further it'll drive me to going insane. I honestly feel used, and hurt, and feel that a friendship was fashioned just to barter services from me for free. I really don't want to turn this into a shit talk, but I'm just tired of dealing with it. Every artist changes their mind a lot, within rational reason, you'd think that at least. This was an endeavor that I really sincerely put my heart in soul into trying to make it work, and in turn could've cost me thousands of dollars, and has already cost me many countless hours of worry and nervousness. Sometimes you just can't make things work, and it's not because you aren't trying hard enough, you can only really work within the limits of what you're given I guess. I wish her the best and I know she'll probably hate me and no longer want to be friends (because obviously that's what professionals do), but frankly it's just not a project that is beneficial or healthy for me to be involved in any longer. This is one of the harder things I've had to do in a while. I sincerely wish her the best.

On a lighter note in regards to that project though, it is highly possible that I might be taking on a new project composed of some past and present members of that band. Stay tuned.

anyways, I'm sorry everyone for such a long bulletin, I know myspacers learn to hate bulletins, but I figure it was better than sending out those bulk christmas cards with my current life biography and pictures of my kids and dog (I actually don't have any kids, but I do have a cat).

Love you all,
Jeremy
