Prashant Aswani: full throttle fusion

News:
07-03-2008:
Rich Murray working with http://www.modernguitars.com/ delivers a new interview with the talented Prashant Aswani.

There's something oddly curious about seeing Aswani peel off a wicked hybrid-picking run on one of these guitars. But, maybe that's part of the point. Though he also plays his trusty ESP M1-based custom model that he's owned for years, when you see Aswani play an Xtone it helps solidify the image that this guy is more than just another shredder. I caught up with Prashant at this year's Winter NAMM show following one of his impressive demo performances at the ESP booth.

Another review of Revelation Fully loadedwith Prashant Aswani, from the boys at http://www.guitarz-for-ever.com/

They said:
I was on MySpace a few months ago and came across this artist / musician / guitarist Prashant Aswani. I think I was checking out Steve Vai’s page or Santriani’s page on Myspace and clicked on Prashant’s picture on the message board. His music loaded and man was I floored! Why haven’t I heard of this guy? I was kind of ticked at myself that I hadn’t heard of him before now! “Prashant is the thinkin’ man’s guitarist!” His arrangements are definitely mind expanding...

A new interview on Essential Guitarist with Prashant Aswani.

Yes, Indian music of all types influenced me from the start. I studied tabla for about 5 years. I studied different taals and rhythmic permutations. I also learned to sing Tabla rhythms. My learning at that point was strictly about rhythmic control and timing. Melodic concepts came later on after I started playing the guitar.

Dave B hooks up with Prashant Aswani for an interview covering the work from his highly recommended new release "Revelation: Fully Loaded"

Any Shakti album would be at the top of my instrumental list. Adding to that I would say Jason Becker’s "Perpetual Burn", any Pat Metheny album, Vinnie Moore’s " Time Odessy", and Greg Howe’s "Uncertain Terms". That is just a few. There are too many to mention.

Prashant will soon unveiled his third CD, the aptly titled "Time". He has spent countless hours in the studio, writing and recording material for "Time", which reflect his jazz-influenced progressions and ethnic melodiescoupled with his hard-hitting, aggressive style.

Parashant will also re-release his CD "Revelation". It is in the process of being re-released with 3 new songs and all new graphics! The original was produced and engineered by Greg Howe, Aswani trades solos with Howe on "Nevin Terrace", "Led Boots" and "Hiding Under The Covers". The final track "Full Throttle" sees Howe and Aswani duel it out over a super crunchy, yet lyrical, riff.

Prashants CD's "Duality" and "Revelation" are one of the highest selling fusion albums on guitar9.

Backround:
Prashant Aswani was listened to classical Indian music while in his mother's womb. He started palying tabla when he was 8 years old. When he was 11 years old he started listening to Angus Young and knew that he had to become a guitarist. At 13, he got his first guitar. He never took lessons, but played everything by ear and by playing along to the radio.

Prashant went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It was during his time at Berklee that he met Greg Howe, who became his mentor and producer on "Revelation" and "Duality", his first two CDs. Prashant would take a bus 8 hours to get to Greg for a four hour lesson!

His first two CD's were well recieved. With his success he moved to Italy and spent almost 2 years promoting his album and conducting guitar clinics all over Europe and Asia.

His skills won him gigs wih Christina Milian and Justin Timberlake

Check out tracks from revelation and duality on guitar9.
