Richie Hallebeek has put together some guitar lessons for the award-winning Essential Guitarist website. This time Richie discusses phrasing through changes. This is a particulalry hard subject to teach, but Richie has included lots of recorded examples and there are written out notes and power tab, plus a jam track for you to play over, you can't go wrong!! A big thanks to Richie for all his hard work. You can check out:
Richie is also mixing a song called 'Under The Influence', which features Antti Kotikoski for The Alchemists II. The final mix should be ready this month and out in a couple of months on Liquid Note Records. You can already listen to a bit here.

Also check his live tour clips from the RHP tour. Amazing stuff.

17-04-2005:
Richard Hallebeek has recorded with bass player Frans Vollinkfor an album called 'Suse's Song'. Listen to a tantalising snippet from Richards' web site of a recent recording posted in March 2005.

Background:
Strange to think it, if you did not know it, but Richard Hallebeek is a veteran of the fusion scene having recorded with Shawn Lane, Scott Henderson, Brett Garsed, Frank Gambale, Scott Kinsey, Dan Gilbert, Carl Verheyen, to name just a few.

Richard is not only a player, but also a fan of the genre, interviewing many of his piers throughout his growing career. An interview and lesson with Shawn Lane provides you with an interesting insight into a player who is keen to explore the works of others, rather than just "blow his own trumpet".

Richards', probably first recognised, success came from released on Mark Varney’s Legato label back in 1995. The Generator album features a number of MI and GIT alumni and Finish Holdsworthian cohort Antti Kotikoski. Antti was a big influence for Richard for his composing and improvising techniques.

Also of note are the CD's with René Engel, Spheres Of Samarkand and Nostalgia. Nostalgia finds Richard in particularly fine free flowing form, in both a melodic and legato fluid sense.

It is also sad to note that Shawn Lane makes one of his last appearances on Richards' Liquid Note Records debut, the highly acclaimed RHP record. If you get a chance, just listen the hauntingly melancholic Lale Larson penned track Enigma. Enigma captures the sensitive piano composition of Lale Larson and ethereal sounds of Shawn Lane, who woken from a soporifically dark coma, produces a sublime, and intangible guitar solo

Look out for new material from this flying Dutchman over the coming months. To find out more just check out Richards excellent web site http://www.richardhallebeek.com/. Note you don't have to believe me, just check out the reviews from the essential guitarist web site.
