This is a song I wrote the night Shawn passed I have not played since that week...This track is from the week he passed away. I played it in club in Plano TX Dallas. Some of the guitar players did are own tribute to him that week he passed away. So this one is for Shawn. September 2003

OK here's the deal / steal of the week, courtesy of instrumentalcase.com and super nice guy Jason Macedo. Jason who is a former student of Jason Becker, Shawn Lane, Alex Skolnick, Derryl Gabel, and Dave Uhrich...is giving back with a super deal on line guitar lessons. Who's not going to want to play like this?!... plus all of the money Jason earns from these webcam lessons will go directly towards funding his solo debut instrumental album, so it’s for a good cause!

Background:
Jason Macedo got into guitar playing from the age of 10. In 1984 he saw Yngwie J. Malmsteen for the first time who became a big early influence. He also saw Warren D Martini and Eddie Van Halen. His first teacher was Jason Becker!

In 1992 he got into Michael Lee Firkins, Richie Kotzen, Greg Howe, Cacophony and Testament. Later he met Dean Turner who influenced him to the Chet Atkins style of playing. In 1994 he heard Shawn Lane and was blown away.

He was also influenced by Derryl Gabel, Essential Guitarist supremo Simon Badham and Peter Lidstrom.

Some influnces include: Larry Carlton,Greg Howe,Shawn Lane,Richie Kotzen,Jazz,Charlie Parker,Forbidden,John Mayer, Chick Corea, Frank Gamable, Brett Garsed, T.J. Helmerich, Scott Henderson, Andy Timmons, Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Michael Lee Firkins, Derryl Gabel, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jason Becker, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ron Thal, Chet Atkins, Waren Hill, Journey, Derryl Gabel, and Darren Housholder.

Currently he is focusing on getting hi own style incorporating sax lines and old jazz ideas into his playing, playing from the heart. In the meantime, he earns a living playing country music.. My songs and style could be described as smooth jazz shred. Hardly any neoclassical these days...trying to stay away from that since so many other guitar players play that way. I still love it though.

Check out his web site for a complete biography
