Paco Hernández says:
The guitarist does not live by shred alone! xD Here it is a video of a ballad of mine, "Amor Imposible". Yes, I play/write ballads too!!!

I wrote it some time ago. The circumstances and feelings who gave birth to it are gone for good, but the song remains (hey, that´s what is cool about art, isn´t it? xD)

I hope you like it!

A super valentine treat for lovers of shred. All I can say is thank god we're not paying Paco by the note... Paco Hernández says:
Hello!

Being bored at home + some tension to release + testing different tones by combining my Laney VH100R Head and my PODxt = This video xD

In this one I improvise over a GREAT BT/song by Mark Moore, a.k.a. dtawake in the Petrucci forum. I don´t know if it is still available there, I got it trough a friend of mine.

Hope you like it.

Don't forget OSV, Holm and Hernandez ...get your copy of "Mission One"

Paco says:
I
t´s been a while since something new happened in my space. It is time to do something about it.

Since Myspace lets to upload two more songs than before, I´ve uploaded a pair of songs:

The first one is The World´s Bravest Man, a neoclassical/hard rock tune which I especially like.

The second is Amour Impossible, a ballad which I wrote some time ago and I remixed very recently. Yes, I write/play ballads too!! Not only of shred lives the guitarist xD

I hope you like them.

All the best to everyone,

Paco

I rolled dice and ended up with six, an even number... hence the post ended up on Paco's blog item...and if it had been odd it would have been on Mathias Holm's post. OK so what is it? Well it's OSV "Mission One" Featuring Mathias Holm and Paco Hernandez who are very, very proud to announce their first CD "OSV-Mission One" which features the incendiary licks of both Mathias Holm and Paco Hernandez... The CD has been mastered and is in production at this moment..... CD's will be available through Guitar 9, CD Baby and several other outlets..... look out for the release Q3, Dec. 1 2007 the target date they are pushing for...just in time for your Christmas stocking.

Paco Hernández says:
Hello! This is me covering the song "Under the Influence" by Rusty "The Butcher" xD Cooley. A friend of mine did the backing track with my playing in mind, since he knows I´m a great fan of Rusty and that I hate to play over the original records when it comes to covering.

For the backing track and a cool tab, visit www.guitarristas.info.

My equipment, is, as always, an Ibanez RG 7 strings with EMG 707s and a PodxT

Here it is a video of me performing my song "David´s Song". It is very melodic and Hard Rock/AOR inspired! :-) By the way, altough this is a guitar video, the camera shows the landscape one can wiev from my window! ^_^ Surely it is more interesting than watching me there waiting for the keyboard intro to end and the song to start xDDDD. I hope you like it. Best regards, Paco

Paco Hernández is working very hard on his new CD. The latest cut he's put together is called Coma. The track is based around the idea of the thoughts and images that flow through an old mans mind as he slips into a coma and is about to die. You can hear a low quality sample on his MySpace profile. Paco recommends that you actually use one of these two links to download it in a mp3 of the highest quality. As ever, these links will expire in a few days, so don´t miss your chance...otherwise, you´ll have to wait to the new demo to be released:

Paco says:
Hello!

This is me doing a short improvisation over a Guthrie Govan´s BT, which can be found in his "Creative Guitar" method.

I played this as a little relaxation in the middle of a recording session of my last song for my new demo. My old webcam was plugged in, so I decided to record it and see what came up and what could I do in one take. So basically, it has the quality of my older videos (not much).
Hope you enjoy,

Paco

Paco Hernández is working hard on the recording of the last song for his new demo record. He also has to do some studio production work, polishing the tracks. Then it will be ready to send to mastering at a studio. Finally to destroy be set loose on the the guitar world!! I'll keep you posted on updates!

24-04-2007:
Fans of Michael Romeo take note! This is a video of Paco's newest song to date, entitled "Beautiful Metal Queen". There is some neoclassical stuff as well as cool shred, but the melody always comes first!

13-04-2007:
A total shred fest lesson "Colouring the Shred Sweep-Picking" from Paco Hernández and the ShredAcademy.com team...my favourite bit is "now up to speed..."

Mr Hernández returns with an interview composed and conducted by Alistair Campbell (Blackorchidx) of the Shred Academy Forum

24-02-2007:
More from the OSV II project with Paco Hernández and the boys behind Neon Knight, check out the melodic mayhem!!: http://www.myspace.com/neonknight777

19-02-2007:
instrumentalcase.com follow up their recent interview with the first part of a guitar lesson covering some of the techniques used in the "Faustian Nightmare" videos, in this case Hybrid Picking.

19-01-2007:
A great interview with Paco Hernandez by Dave B from the new super cool guitar interview site,
instrumentalcase. (does this mean I can retire now...)

In the interview Paco reveals more details about his playing and talents beyond guitar:

Right now I´m studying for my Ph.D. in Philosophy. Luckily I have a very good scolarship to work on it. So basically my days are spent on researching, reading, and writing. But there is always room for the guitar and music! Some days I focus on songwriting, others on technique, or improvising…

Lets hope Paco's guitar dream comes true and he gets a release deal for his music in 2007.

10-01-2007:
Paco Hernández is back in 2007 playing an original song. The track is very long and divided in parts (think in "The Odyssey" by Symphony X as an example) this is split into 2 videos.

"Faustian Nightmare" part 1

"Faustian Nightmare" part 2

28-12-2006:
Ok..ok...I messed up the neonknight track in the last post, the song "Freedom" is not played by Paco Hernández, but by Mathias Holm. The correct location for Paco's neonknight track is Paco's own site, cunningly titled "Side project with N...".

27-12-2006:
Paco Hernández has just finished a seriously neoclassical-progressive-orchestral song called Faustian Nightmare(mp3 need to log in). The song charts the nightmare that Faust has in his gothic chamber before the facts in Goethe´s magnum opus.

Faustian Nightmare
I. The Night : Gothic Chamber (00:00-1:01)
II. Clavigula Salommonis (1:01-3:06)
III. The Unsaciable Thirst of Knowledge (3:06-8:04)
IV. Ich bin der Geist, der stets verneint! (8:04-10:41)
V. Dealing with the Devil (10:41-13:05)
VI. Late Redemption (13:05-14:30)

In this one Paco's brother has collaborated with the keybord solos and has provided some ideas. Please leave comments on his web site: http://www.myspace.com/pacohrguitar

Paco Hernández has also recorded a song called Freedom with Neon Knight. The track shows Paco's shredding side and features his Ibanez 7 strings guitar with the EMG 707...Wild stuff

12-11-2006:
InstrumentalCase reminds me that top undiscovered shredder Paco Hernández has a myspace: http://www.myspace.com/pacohrguitar...now march on over there and make friends...

29-10-2006:
Heaven or Hell

08-10-2006:
For those impressed by Paco's playing to date you'll be happy to hear that you can download his first CD from http://www.guitarristas.info/. You have to register to download, but it is worth it as there are a number of free CD's for you to listen to together with lessons etc. You'll need to use google translate if your Spanish is a little rusty.

The Paco Hernández CD is called Heaven or Hell and was recorded in the free short whiles of Pacos' day to day studies. There is a variety of styles on offer and show Paco to be versatile and not short of the incendiary shred lick.

05-10-2006:
Paco Hernández playing over a well known Kiko Loureiro BT. The focus is more on phrases rather than the shred or the fusion. The video is dedicated to Jean-Do, who always complains Paco often play too many notes.

Background:
Paco Hernández was born in 1981 in the Murcia province of Spain. His first contact with an instrument was when he was five years old when a friend of his father's introduced him into keyboards. A couple of years later, he took formal classes in an academy of music, where he studied musical theory, piano and singing.

Paco Hernández remained singing in the choir associated to the Academy for a number of years, gaining experience which greatly developed his aural skills. Later he quit the Academy, but at the age of thirteen he began composing music, at that time inspired in OST (Williams, Edelman, Elman, Vangelis, new age and japanese videogame music like Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and the like.

When he was fifteen, he was introduced to the rock music world by a friend via the band Europe. He got into German metal bands like Helloween and Gamma Ray. As he got more involved, his interest in playing guitar became greater. He really started to play when he was seventeen years old and discovered Yngwie Malmsteen. As is common with this discovery he was drawn to other players like John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani , Joey Tafolla, Vinnie Moore, Shwan Lane, Rusty Cooley, Eric Johnson, Greg Howe, Allan Holdsworth and Andy Timmons. His music palette grew to encompass metal, classical, fusion, jazz, funk, flamenco and classical acoustic guitar.

Paco Hernández recently made a demo, entitled "Heaven or Hell", with seven songs, five of them being original; it can downloaded for free from www.guitarristas.info. With this demo he won the competition hold by the prestigious magazine Guitarra Total, in which he was featured in August 2006. One of his songs has also been selected for the 2nd CD of www.guitarristas.info entitled Second Opinion, which is scheduled to appear sometime in 2007.
