Background:
A first for this blog...Alvin de Leon is a 30 year old independent guitarist from the Philippines. He has studied at a number of music schools in the Philippines. His most recent music course was at the University of the Philippines College of Music, Majoring in classical Guitar.
However, his first love is electric guitar, but it is very difficult to get serious electric guitar course like in MIT or Berkeley, in the Philippines. So as a result Alvin studied at the University to get a diploma and have a good background on music history, music theories.
Early influences included bands like Bon Jovi, Guns and Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Ritchie Kotzen and Dream Theater.
More recently he has expanded his musical outlook by studying classical and jazz. He's currently listening to fusion and Jazz guitarists such as Jimmy Bruno, Joe Pass, Allan Holdsworth, Shawn Lane.
