Is Essential Guitarist about to make a come back? Currently consigned to the archives from the wayback time machine.

Simon has been testing some of the new web 2.0 technology provided by blogger: http://essentialguitarist.blogspot.com/

Background:
Simon Badham is the brains behind Essential Guitarist web site. Simon, an accomplished guitarist, set about changing the rules of guitar interviews and lessons. Like me. Simon was fed up with seeing the same old faces in the guitar magazines...This was Simon's idea:

The concept for this site is very simple...
The Essential Guitarist E-Zine is dedicated to reviving all that used to be cool and interesting about Guitar magazines. What the hell am I talking about? Well...over the years Amir and I have perused and collected hundreds of Guitar magazines from all over the world. Except for a couple, notably Guitar Techniques (UK) & Young Guitar (JPN) most publications now bow to the dictatorship of 'fashion'. Personally I hate 'fashion', look at my photo on the E-Guitarist Team page. Nuff said.

Lets get realistic for a mo. Mainstream music has moved on from the time when guitar virtuosity was considered cool and 13-16 year olds bought Van Halen LP's. I accept this, but I don't have to like it. That's why when I pick up a guitar magazine, I choose one from the '86-'94 era (Thank god for Ebay). Those were the happy days when Wolf Marshall wrote a column called Musical Appreciation, Guitar World ran 4 page spreads on Greg Howe or Racer X and Satriani was guest Editor at GFTM. Remember? I for one, think it would be a very cool idea to bring the format of those days kicking and screaming into the new Millenium.

So...if your looking for top quality features, lessons and interviews with world class players - rather than pillow biting chutney ferrets in make up (Malmsteen excused hehe), you've come to the right place.

"Hey Marty, do you think your mom would give me conk?"

My new mantra.

Cheers Si.

This concept appealed to me, so I joined forces with the crew and added some reviews and interviews from players who interested me and who had appeared on Truth In Shredding... the rest as we say is history.
