A really great interview with George Bellas entitled: George Bellas: Shredding Through Infinity by Tommy “Hashman” Hash. Hashman gets the low down on his new releases and experience with Mike Varney and Lion Music

Hashman writes:
He now has a deal with Lion Music after having looked into new label opportunities; he is still in contact with all his friends from Shrapnel, “(Shrapnel and I) are in very good standing and I frequently talk with Mike Varney. When venturing into the deal with Lion Music it was me that wanted to explore other label possibilities, and after researching concluded that I really liked the quality of musicianship that Lion Music was releasing. Lasse Mattson at Lion Music is one of the best persons to work with, and I really think he does a fantastic job in many respects as to how he runs the company.”

Shrapnel was/is the home to many guitar hero legends including Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, and Paul Gilbert/Racer X, to Bellas it most certainly was an experience as he elaborates, “It was great and a lot fun! Mike Varney was calling me quite regularly asking if I would be interested in doing another and another and another album. It was so often in fact that James Murphy jokingly suggested that Varney change the company's name to Bellas Records. Mike Varney was, and still is, great to work with. When he would call my home and my girlfriend would answer, he once commented to her that he felt as though whenever he called he was like this dark cloud that would come and take her boyfriend away, and very typically I was on a flight out to the Shrapnel camp days later.”
