News: bbc story of guitar, it seems it's not just me who does not like mr yentob

Thanks to Axe Victim for his review of the BBC series, whose part 2 aired tonight.

Axe Victim says:
I watched the first of this three part BBC TV documentary yesterday and wanted to sleep through the second half simply because it was so dull and boring. One has to concede that a history of the instrument in the 20th century would have been more snappy, but the chronological and geographical development of the development of the guitar needn't have been so dull if it had been presented by an enthusiastic player. Alan Yentob is not, in my opinion, the man to 'inspire' viewers to want to take up the instrument. He is far too 'mainstream corporation BBC' to do this series the justice its subject rightly deserves. Add to the mix the fact that Mr. Yentob doesn't play the instrument that he so piously laud's, I'd say that tonight's second episode is going to have to pull out all the stops to retain my interest.
