FIREWIND - Angels Forgive Me (Live)

FIREWIND mainman Gus G. checks in with the following European tour re-cap:

“Hello all,

Gus here, checking in from Greece.
Besides the Greek and Bulgarian shows that are now postponed for January, I wanted to give you an update on the European tour we just completed. Sitting at home right now and looking back on it, I must say it was a great experience. We have done so many tours in the past, but this one was different: It was a headline tour. So we learned a lot while being a headliner, on the other hand we had some killer bands with us on this tour!

There was too many good shows to pick a favourite one. France was great as always, then we did 4 shows in Spain with Vicious Rumours – these guys can play! They really inspired us to play harder and headbang even more! After the final show in Barcelona we all wandered around town at 3 AM
trying to find an open bar on a Monday! Well, we did. And after that bar closed we continued partying on the street in front of our tourbus. Good times!

In Italy we met up with Eldritch and the shows were great, but it might be a while until we return there…

Other adventures from the road included a 6 hour delay @ the Swiss border due to communication problems, people talking to the supervisors of their supervisors
and insane paperwork we had to submit! Well, we managed to get to the venue in Pratteln only half hour before doors opened. I swear, I haven’t seen a faster load-in, set up and soundcheck in my life!! We managed to do it all
somehow within 20 minutes! Then we had dinner. 3 hours later we rocked our faithful fans @ Z7 and had another killer show!

We feel really honoured to have been able to play in Budapest twice this year. The response of our debut show back in April (on the Kamelot tour) was so great that we managed to do our own headline show 7 months later. People love their metal there for sure!

In Vienna we must have played the smallest stage ever. Even so, the Viper Room was packed with people that night but backstage we were already getting drunk with whisky shots. We ended up playing a very drunk, yet really energetic and true rock n’ roll show!I even crowd surfed while I played the solo of “Falling To Pieces”!!

The final show was the Masters Of Rock festival in Czech Republic.
A first time in that country for us and we played before 3.500 screaming
Metalheads! Couldn’t think of a better way to end this tour.

Big thanx goes out to all the bands we shared the stage with (Kiuas, Stormwarrior, Vicious Rumours, Eldritch and a bunch of cool French bands), our killer multinational crew who managed to learn Greek only in one month (plus some Finnish guys!!), Jörg Düsedau @ Dragon Productions and all promoters and companies involved!

Now everyone have a Merry Christmas and we’re looking forward to our 2009 shows and activities!”

Stay tuned for a further live activity by FIREWIND in 2009 to be announced soon…
