Guitarist Joe Satriani is well-known for using Peavey amps, but he wanted his new group to offer more than volume. Indeed, he said he wanted to combine aspects of traditional 50-watt amps from the "golden era" with a greater variety of sounds that could aid the gigging musician. Satriani is playing in his new group with former Van Halen stars Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, as well as Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Speaking to Billboard, Hagar described the material they have produced so far as Led Zeppelin-esque.
