COMPETITION: Shred this! 45 first cut

OK, after much thought this is the first cut 45. NB Rick is still working on his list so there may be additions. If there are they will appear here. Next stop second cut down to 15...

I guess I need to prepare to be flamed and buckets of hate mail!



If you did not appear in this list... it does not mean you weren't playing great, just 45 other people were deemed to be playing better... all subjective I know... but not to worry as there will be another competition.

In addition when we get down to the last 15... there will be 30 other unhappy people... it does not mean you weren't playing great, just 15 other people were deemed to be playing better... and so on. If you think it's easy for us... think again!

    didn't make it. No matter, many good players, so I wouldn't stand a chance getting in top 3 anyways.

    No offense Laurie but I think you need your ears testing.
    Why put novelty entries in the top 45 such a 'slimer', and then miss out great players like Jack Gardiner???
    It seems ludicrous to me.

    Re Slimer... that was Shred Juniors choice, he absolutely loves that video... we discussed it last night, he would be deeply upset if Slimer didn't make it through.

    In terms of the top 45 cut... yes you're right there are some other great players who could be in there... I love Jack Gardiner... I think he's going to be a big star if he carries on the way he has. Although Jack might be upset... I'm sure he'll have bigger fish to fry than this competition.

    After all is said and done this is supposed to be a little fun... this is not guitar idol! The same goes for any other player who did not make it to the shortlist, if your on my blog, you'll get my support!

    Hi Osman I posted my first cut at 45 as people were asking for some feed back. Rick and Tom were aiming for 15. I thought I would feed back as soon as possible. In this case I don't think it was good idea because, firstly, the list was wrong, with errors (all my fault) and secondly Rick and Tom had different people in mind but were short listing for 15. We are now trying to finalise the 15... which is where we planned to be originally. That list is almost complete we have about a 90% overlap. When it's done these will be announced and future short list details announced.

    To all those bad mouthing Slimer, i would like to go back in time and see them play at 9 years old and only been playing for 4 weeks! How do i know he has been playing for 4 weeks? Because i bought him his first guitar the same day i got me a new amp. All i have taught him up to that point was the minor pentatonic scale and a tapping lick, and off he goes! I know there are many pro players in the comp that we are not even worthy to be compared to, but it was great to make a video with some fun and creativity. Great contest to be a part of! Thanks Laurie, Tom, and Rick!

    Hi

    Perhaps it's too late, but Angel Ruiz performed masterfully, and yet did not make the cut. Was this an oversight? I think don't think it was a case of '45 folks played better'

    BTW, the competition is simply amazing; I do not envy the judges here!

    No there were lots of people who could/should be in the top 45... but there can only be 45. Angel is a great player and this is no reflection on his playing... just try getting down to 45 and you'll see how hard it is as there are so many cool players. We working up Shred This 2... we've got some prizes in hand and some planned.
