Luay Rifai: new cd now available at guitar9

News:
23-03-2009:

Luay Rifai is a guitarist inhabiting the hard rock, shred, metal and progressive instrumental genres on his 2009 concept CD, Vital. The concept revolves around the miracle of being alive. A truly pulsating and dynamic, vibrant entity that is full of life, breathing, beating, with vivacious energy. The dialogue is on how merely having organic material as it is will not be sufficient to manifest life. It requires something very Vital which is the non-organic "essence", or soul, that runs through to connect all the different portions essential for the persistence of life. It's the search between body and soul. The musical counterpart to the concept is interpreted as the song being divided into several movements, each representing a fundamental element of a living entity. In addition to the "essence of living" which is signified by the main theme, there is a melodic run, played in different modes, recurring in each separate component of the entire instrumental. Without the essence, every other part is only organic and devoid of life. Yet still, if it isn't for each of the single organic constituents in every section, this very essence of living will also be lost. The essence of living is thriving to unite with the body throughout the whole track; it emerges frequently as the main theme in various shapes in attempts to join different organs together. Although tough at first with seemingly distant parallel alignment, by the finale they form one in harmony, denoting in totality the vital existence of the miracle of living.

Gianluca Ferro, Frank Caruso, Stefano Sebo Xotta: 24 strings

News:
23-03-2009:

Accordo talk to 24 string: in Italian: http://www.accordo.it/articles/2009/03/22237/strings-24-tutto-inizio-per-gioco.html

"I do not want to bore you from the foundation of the world, but I think it is important to talk about how the project has begun to make the idea of the reasons that make us proud of this achievement ...

At high school, Frank [Caruso] and I attended the technical institute and our meeting avenne through a concert done in the main hall of the mythical ITIS Bernocchi of Legnano. It was the year 1985 ... Frank, then seventeen, I began playing on his knees, between the different songs, two song from Album for Perfect Stranger Deep Purple, that the time had just come out! Cacchio, Frank already cracked at the ugly, had the style of Blackmore in the veins!

After that event we started out in the company together, sharing the tremendous movement guitar accompanying those years ...

Close to 20 years each made their own way, study, work, family, etc. ...

In the meantime I tried to round off my income by giving some guitar lessons ...

One day I called a very strong boy away and asked me to come to lessons to learn from me all the secrets of my style ... And so I found myself in front of a very young Gianluca Ferro ...

after about ten minutes I asked him what reason had come to lecture to me, because his technique was already amazing! After having explained in two or three meetings the foundations of my style, we lost sight of, meeting only rarely during concerts and various musical events, in the meantime he became a bishop of the great prog metal, military band in as Arkhé, Doomsword and Time Machine ...

Move now in November 2006 ...
Thanks to the mythical MySpace, one day I received an email from Frank Caruso who asked me news about my last 15 years and I explained a little 'what he had done in the meantime! What joy!

We decided to see us one evening for a drink, as we discovered to live in the same city! A truly exciting meeting! 15 years of events, experiences, joys and sufferings, are you a different person, and it's great to be able to compare with those who have had many experiences, some similar, others completely different. In short, it was as if 20 years ago at a crossroads had chosen two different paths, and that day we had put itself back on track!

I had a lot of ground with my live band, the UTEZ, Excommunication, Four Tiles, in addition to working as much as demonstrator around Italy, he had made 5 albums with his band Arachnes, he was fresh as a soloist and was going out with the gothic darklight and the sixth Arachnes! In addition in all those years had made many songs for commercials and soundtracks for Mediaset.

Given that 80% of the things were made by both the music and left us with the phrase "why do not we do a suonatina one day?" From there we began to exchange the discs made in all those years, beginning to caress' s idea of doing something together, just to seal this unexpected meeting and much appreciated!

Speaking of the project, began to tickle the idea of involving third guitarist style completely different from our in order to create different and interesting sounds ...
The first name that I was to sovvenne Gianluca, a man with whom Frank had had contact via email.

So we began to meet, to exchange ideas first registered, thus initiating the creation of our music! The following period was represented by an intense traffic of CDs with sub-projects that were imported into software for the registration of each of us to be updated with their guitar tracks. Simultaneously came the curiosity to experiment with the use of 8-strings and, thanks to huge support from Ibanez, started to use this guitar for our compositions.

In the final stage of creating the song we could make use of the drums by Roberto Gualdi on any CD, in addition to low Gabriele and Lorenzo Baroni Feliciati el'hammond Alessandro Del Vecchio.

The mix was done by me and Frank in his Phantom Studio, while mastering Frank has worked in concert with Luca Pilla, director of the magazine Computer Music & Project Studio.

To give us an injection of positivity and pride has thought Lion Music with his interest in Strings 24, and the contract has been offered a definitive meaning to the sentence of three years before "not because we are a suonatina one day?" It was ... suonatina by the parties before a birretta ... and it was a disc that, while being a generally well put in its niche, is distributed all over the world!

For this reason, the output of the CD Strings 24 has a meaning for us still tied to the passion, the desire to share our music and try to achieve the best possible way!
Also why I wanted to tell this story about agreement, because here also the engine that moves everything is always above all the passion, the desire to listen to the guitar, guitar talk, emotions with the guitar ... "

Looks interesting:
Every industry needs a tool that helps keep people organized, efficient, focused, and ready for what’s next. Bandize is that tool for the music industry.

All too often, the way bands keep track of all their information is scattered, duplicative, and oftentimes overwhelming. How many times have you scribbled contacts in a notebook, or tried to keep track of finances in Excel (yeah right!), or keep track of tour details in your head? How’s that workin’ out?

Bandize is a common place, a place that’s accessible from anywhere, one that all band members can view and contribute to, one that’s already set up for you the way bands need it to be. It’s true organization for bands.

Magna Carta Records is releasing his debut album Out Of Oblivion world wide this Tuesday...Ethan is playing a release party/show on Sunday March 29th at Bill's Bar in Boston! Come come come!!!

Ethan Brosh says:
Hello music lovers! I'm very happy to have gotten to the point of doing my CD release party! The show happens just a few days after Magna Carta Records had put out "Out of Oblivion" in stores all over the world. This show is very important to me and I really hope to see everyone I know around Boston that night, Actually I would love to see anyone who wants to check out my music! We're doing a double show...First our 80s metal band and then the instrumental group. Lots of notes will be played that night! We made sure this show isn't happening during spring break or midterms week so everyone could come down. We're putting lots of effort into this one show so this is definitely the one to come out to! I appologized some of the flyers we put up in Berklee had the wrong date! The show is on the 29th of March at around 9:30. Don Lappin: free skype lesson example

News:

Don Lapppin says:
This video demonstrates how Skype works. It is a fantastic way to take guitar lessons on-line!!! I've been giving Skype lessons to students from around the world and it works amazingly well!!! Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Thanks Sabi for your help with this!!!

Skype Example

Don Lappin says:
Hey Everybody!!!

Here is what is going on with my DVD:

I am now offering a FREE 1/2 private lesson using skype for those of you who order my DVD at the regular purchase price of $64.95 (shipping included). If you like the lesson and wish to continue either weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly, you may do so at a reduced cost of $30 per 1/2 lesson. My usual rate is $80 per hour for Skype lessons. Keep in mind that these are REAL private lessons, live and one on one...o)

If you choose to order my DVD without the FREE private lesson, the cost is $49.95 (shipping included). Remember, this is without the lesson.

If you are not familiar with how Skype works, ckeck out my video that I did a while back with my student and friend Sabi Saltiel. I have been teaching privately on line now for about a year and it is phenominal!!! This works especially well for students who are planning on attending Berklee and want to get a head start before they arrive. There is no better way to do that than by studying with an actual Berklee Professor...o)

It is also a great way to get the most out of my DVD!!!

So here are the two rates broken down:

DVD + Free Lesson- $64.95 (shipping included)

DVD Without Lesson- $49.95 (shipping included)

Thanks and I hope to hear from you...o)

George Marios: guitar idol 2009 heat 3

News:
23-03-2009:
Guitar Idol continues to draw great music, we're down to the last very days of heat 3 before the final draw...closes on March 29th 2009 5pm (GMT)... just before Musikmesse 2009, where I understand that George Marios and Tom Quayle will be appearing.

George Marios says:
This is the fourth track from my upcoming album, ‘Between two worlds’. It is a bluesy/funky piece that is about the tricks that you do when you are a kid:-) The song features some great playing by Nikos Tsiligoudis on Drums and Alex Deligiannidis on the Bass. It was recorded in Greece and in the UK and it was mixed by Tasos Karapapazoglou and i and mastered by him as well. The solo is completely improvised as i really like trying new things in my lines all the time… Well, thats about it, i hope that you like the song and vote for it. Good luck to everyone, Peace George Marios

PS As far as the laughs in the intro are concerned, Tom [Quayle] who was filming the thing was making some really naughty facial expressions so couldn’t help it:-)

Tom Quayle: guitar idol 2009 heat 3

News:
23-03-2009:
Heat 3 starts closes on March 29th 2009 5pm (GMT)... so just about time to squeeze in some more great playing:

Tom Quayle says:
This track is a tune from my debut album which should be released this year. All the drum, bass and synth parts are programmed by me and the solos are all completely improvised over some tricky changes! The track was composed and recorded in Logic Pro 8 using Stylus RMX and Trilogy Bass samples with all the guitar parts recorded direct using Amplitube 2. The changes are very much influenced by Greg Howe’s new album and the end riff after the solo is inspired by a Wayne Krantz rhythmic approach. This section should contain a drum solo but my rhythm programming doesn’t stretch to that so it’s not present in this version of the track. I hope you enjoy it! All the best, Tom

Paul Gilbert: three of the best

News:
23-03-2009:
Lord knows how many Paul Gilbert videos there are... well three more thrown into the ring!

Live @ Sheraton. 20th anniversary of PGM model. It cuts out at the end because my camera died, and for some odd reason caused it to blow its fuse, which is why it took so long for me to get this footage, as I had to bring it to a specialist to get the tape out, then look for a new camera.

Racer X- "Street Lethal" live

Paul Gilbert- "The Curse of Castle Dragon" live

Allegedly there was a problem with the guitar cable with this one.
