Vinnie Moore: sleeze rocks interview

Vinnie Moore:
There's no plan at the moment to do another DVD but I think it's a good idea to do something with more current material though. I think we should do another one actually. As for the Showtime DVD, as an artist we get kind of picky. I personally don't think that it was our strongest show. We had done better shows than that, but we had problems with electricity that night. I don't know, I feel little bit critical about it...the way it was shot...I felt like there was a detachment from it. It might have had something to do with the way they mixed it or something. I think it was cool to get a DVD out there, but I do think that up to that point we had done better shows on that tour.

Paul Gilbert: jenn goes the extra mile

Jenn worked overtime to convert this one for you... Article provided by the author (Dave Sixx) and presented with permission.

On a Thursday in November, from my veranda on the ocean in Santa Monica, I sit down with my laptop in front of me, and a Corona with lime seductively waiting for me. I look around. On a roomy portion of my wall, I have at least twenty guitars hung. Only one guitar manages to attract my eyes at this moment: this one, I have called ‘Sixxteria’, a Telecaster style which has a story to tell. The body has the autograph of a guitar player that again makes me think back with pleasure, every time. I can not understand exactly what things I appreciate most in this person… Perhaps it’s his guitar playing technique? Perhaps it’s his constant cheerfulness? I think it is his way of life, always so optimistic and immersed in the life-blood and the music! Well, the guitar can make me dream, and I can evoke images to share. I closed my eyes and thought back to a time in Bologna, Italy, a couple of weeks ago…

Yngwie Malmsteens Trilogy album cover is named as one of the worst album covers of all time... not sure why.... I have the t-shirt looks great to me! I suspect it's because they have a downer on the "J"... It also appears that that all the Manowar covers are in the list too!

Alex Hutchings: blue class boss and roland demos

Alex Hutchings demos the CUBE guitar-amp. With switchable clean and lead channels, 80 watts of power, a high-performance 12-inch speaker, stellar built-in effects, classic amp models, and built-in Looper and tuner, the CUBE-80X rocks hard and loud.

Alex Hutchings introduces BOSS ME-70 Guitar Multiple Effects. A multi-effects unit thats as easy as a stompbox ― thats the beauty of the new ME-70. The friendly, knob-laden design makes tone creation a snap, but with a powerful COSM AMP section derived from the GT-10, the ME-70 takes the EZ effects concept to new heights.

Matias Kupiainen: stratovarius solo snippets

My camera decided to cut out during the show... not sure why, but I salvaged some clips. 15th May 2009 Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton, England/UK Brilliant gig. I tested the video camera after, I ran it for 20 minutes and no problem. I am wondering if this was a volume issue? It's a real shame because this was Matias Kupiainen's first show and he was immense, everyone at the end of the show gave him a big hug. This guy is mega talented and he picked a sound that cut through, with note intervals that were easy to hear... even at high volume... just glad I had ear plugs in though... may be need some for the camera! If you get a chance go and see this tour, a super bonus of guitar and keyboard players with good old melodic rock!
