News: youtube for ps3 and wii

Shred junior senior will be happy:
YouTube's special interface for large screens, available at youtube.com/xl, has been updated to include bigger buttons and navigation controls. Now you don't have to worry about picking the next video to play: YouTube automatically plays all the videos from a list.

"Last January we introduced a video website especially for people who wanted to access YouTube videos through their Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii game consoles. You could say we've now "expanded" on that. Just as there's a YouTube browser for mobile devices, the new YouTube XL is optimized for watching YouTube videos on any large screen,"

Yngwie Malmsteen: tim ripper owens talks about the bond with the little viking chief

Tim “Ripper” Owens:
I’ve got almost everybody in there…from Rudy Sarzo to Billy Sheehan, Doug Aldrich, Steve Stevens, Vinny Appice, Simon Wright, Dave Ellefson, Bruce and Bob Kulick…it’s different…it’s more melodic…hard rock, maybe influenced a little bit by Sabbath and Priest whereas Beyond Fear is more “in your face”. I am looking forward to having a listening party for “Play My Game” when I return to the States....

Tim “Ripper” Owens:
No…I know Yngwie for many years. I did “Mr. Crowley” with him back in 2001 and we always talked about doing something together when the time is right. So, we met at a Starbucks…I guess, that’s where you are going when you get older (laughs)! It was a good meeting…after a while, I listened to the new material and I really liked it. We did the record, a world tour and I actually got back from Japan last week…it was great. We will definitely do another record together! It’s fun being on stage with Yngwie.

Richie Kotzen: a chance to get a free mp3 for charity

kudos to sleeze roxx

Richie Kotzen:
"I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who came to my last leg of shows in Argentina, Brazil, and Costa Rica. My band and I had an amazing trip and can not wait to get back out on the road again. This week I will travel to Rome and participate in a benefit concert in support of those affected by the L'Aquila earthquake earlier this year. I still remember being woken from a dead sleep in 1994 as my home felt like a giant was lifting it in the air and throwing it back down to the earth. I understand the feeling of helplessness and devastation that one feels in a serious earthquake. I am honored to be a part of this benefit.

Later this summer (August 1st to the 15th) I will return to Italy for a run of acoustic shows. I did this last year as well, and look forward to another 2 weeks of summer in Italy. I am also planning an extensive European tour for the Fall. We plan on doing shows in the UK, Spain, France and other countries. The series of dates will run from late September until early December. I am sorry to say there are no plans for a North American tour at this time however I will be doing a live show at BB Kings in New York City. The show at BB Kings will be on July 28th with my live band. This is sure to be a special event for me as it has been ages since I performed on the East Coast.

And finally I would like to invite anyone who has not yet joined my mailing list to do so at this time. Anyone who joins the Richie Kotzen Community (Mailing list) will receive a link to download a new version of my song Remember. The song is FREE and has been re-recorded and named Remember (Reprise). You may preview the song at www.myspace.com/richiekotzen.

Simply click the 'red' "Join The Community" link on my Myspace page and follow the prompts. You will then receive a separate e mail directing you to the free download. You may also sign up by clicking the 'Join The Community' link at richiekotzen.com

Well, that is it for now. I hope to see you at the NYC show at BB Kings on July 28th. If not I will see you on the road."

Eddie Van Halen: I'm done with booze

Tortured, no. I started drinking when I was 12 years old because I was nervous. And my dad gave me a shot of vodka and it was a wonder drug. It really worked for a lot of years. But I certainly didn't drink to make music or to write. It had nothing to do with it. I just get nervous. I'm nervous now. But I stopped drinking over a year ago, and I'm done with it. For 42 years, I drank. It just shows you anything is achievable. Just like coming here with 50 bucks and a piano....

Have you heard Chickenfoot?
No, I haven't.

Mike Stern, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson: big neighbourhood project

Stern invites fans and newcomers alike into his rich and diverse little corner of the world with the August 11, 2009, worldwide release of Big Neighborhood on Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group. Aiding Stern in this latest chapter of his never-ending quest for the new and better groove is a long list of talented guests: guitarists Steve Vai and Eric Johnson; bassist-vocalists Esperanza Spalding and Richard Bona; jamband godfathers Medeski Martin & Wood; drummers Dave Weckl, Terri Lyne Carrington, Cindy Blackman and Lionel Cordew; bassists Chris Minh Doky and Lincoln Goines, and several others...

Mike Stern's Big Neighborhood is an open community where everyone is welcome. Everyone has something worthwhile to say, and everyone is given plenty of room to say it. "The thing that really gets me going is listening to all these very different artists on this record interpret my songs," says Stern. "In the end, everything is unified by the mere fact that it's just good music. That's really the common thread. There's just that vibe that emerges when good musicians play their hearts out. Nothing else really matters as far as I'm concerned... I think anyone who likes any of these artists will really dig what they did on this record."
