PX Euro Tour Cancelled
It is with much regret, that due to unfortunate personal circumstances, Planet X are forced to postpone their upcoming European Tour until the first half of 2010.

Hi Dirk,

Yeah - it's not good at all. We are all really bummed here, but there is a good reason, that I'm sure will be announced when the time is right. I hope people are understanding and keep the complaining to a minimum, because the reasons are personal and it's very unfortunate

Lori Linstruth: luna andromeda demo

One I missed back from 2008. highlighted by this new and detailed post from Lori Linstruth:
For Newborn Race I used the bridge pickup on my Luna Andromeda, the Pod Pro, and the Dunlop 535-Q wah pedal, recorded directly into my computer’s sound card (the photo shows the whole chain). I always record with no added effects or EQ. During mixing, Arjen made many adjustments: EQ, compression, limiting, short reverb, long reverb, and delay. EQ usually involves hunting down and reducing any ugly frequencies, and often adding a bit of top. It depends on the solo sound used, and the characteristics of the backing.

Julien Carayon: angry god

Julien Carayon:
Angry God (album: Lethal Alchemy): www.juliencarayon.com buy the album

"I think this song leans towards Metal territory and has a great progressive edge. You may notice that instruments play different time signature during the long alternate picking passage just before the main theme. The drums play 4/4 while all other instruments play 3/4, guitar included. The result is a real cool progressive edge that I enjoy a lot!

My approach to playing the guitar always consists in practicing the following attitudes: Attitude 1: Playing like a machine, especially when it comes to playing challenging guitar licks such as sweep appergios. Attitude 2: Playing freely, more relaxed with a Rock 'n roll attitude in mind. (E.g Verse of the song) I try to mix the best of both worlds when playing.

This video showcases as well my Ibanez RG3520Z-HBK guitar, which still has stock pick-ups as they produce a pretty bright and well balanced tone. I use the guitar to play Metal whereas my other Ibanez RG3120F-DAM is more suitable for mellow tone, Jazz-like songs."

Wayne Krantz: no fun not to like pop!

Its No Fun Not to Like Pop. (Krantz Carlock Lefebvre)
Abstract Logix 2009

The boldly inventive improvisations of guitarist Wayne Krantz have long held a fascination for fans of dynamic, uncompromised music. Ex-Sideman with Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Michael Brecker , Billy Cobham and many others, Krantz has focused on live performance for nearly two decades, holding down a residency at New York Citys 55 Bar. Now, with Krantz Carlock Lefebvre, he is returning to a recording studio to document his own music for the first time in over fifteen years .

Krantz Carlock Lefebvre features Krantz as one-third of a longstanding trio that also includes virtuoso drummer Keith Carlock (Sting, Steely Dan, James Taylor) and bassist extraordinaire Tim Lefebvre (Chris Botti, Uri Caine), which was first convened in 1997. Giving this band a voice in the context of a studio is a big deal for us, Krantz says. Everything weve ever released together has been some kind of live album. Now we have the clarity and concision of the studio along for the ride. Cut live in the studio and then augmented by overdubs, the result is Krantzs most personal statement yet, more strongly rooted in composition while still rich with the improvisational nuances that make his live performances so riveting. Get ready for one of strongest musical statement of the year.

Rob Chappers: monkey fest 2010 \m/

Rob Chappers:
I am considering hosting a guitar festival in Wiltshire UK, sometime mid November 2010. There would be appearances from Europe's top clinicians from brands like Peavey, Washburn and I would give a 2 hour tuition clinic. Live music until late, and then camp over or B&B all for about £35 which would include a ticket for your food.

If you are interested in coming please let me know ;-)
Please feedback
