String Theory ~ The Album
The guitar is a "one of a kind" instrument. Throughout the years, guitarists have pushed the limits of what the guitar can do. And so today the journey continues as the guitar and the players evolve. The "Six String Theory" album will seek to continue this process by combining superstar guitarists from the worlds of rock, blues, country, jazz/fusion, acoustic, and classical/flamenco genres. Some of the great international guitar players will join together to blend their styles into a unique new "fusion". The album, on Concord Records and Monster Music, will be produced by Lee Ritenour and John Burk and released in the Summer of 2010. As the record progresses, we'll post updates on our blog section and you'll also be able to give us your comments on the album and the competition.

And after hearing and then attempting to play the Dixie Dregs’ “Pride o’ the Farm” and the Steve Morse Band’s “Cruise Missile,” I was thoroughly convinced that such prowess on the guitar could only be achieved via monk-like devotion to the instrument. Although I was a dedicated guitarist by that time, a monk I was not. Read more...
