News: Simon Cowell... don't shake my money tree!

Simon Cowell believes that the BBC is offering undue prominence to the chart campaign against X Factor winner Joe McElderry, a report has claimed.

According to The Mirror, the music mogul fears that executives at the corporation want revenge after The X Factor triumphed over Strictly Come Dancing in the Saturday night ratings battle.

McElderry's rivals Rage Against The Machine performed and gave an interview on BBC station Five Live yesterday morning. The band's song 'Killing In The Name' was also being played on Radio 1.

A source close to Cowell is quoted as saying: "At the moment, it just looks like a massive case of sour grapes from the BBC. Strictly was smashed in the ratings by X Factor. Now someone at the BBC seems to have an agenda and that has made Simon and people working on The X Factor furious."

Theodore Ziras-Lick of the Week #59: Shred Up Your Pentatonics Part1
to download the tab and the backing track click here

Lesson Description:
This is a great (and typical) Minor Pentatonic Lick in the style of Zakk Wylde, Jimmy Page etc
This ilik is based on the first box of Eminor Pentatonic Scale (E, G, A, C, D)

Memorize the Lick that I am showing you on the video (see the tab below).
Then try to apply over the metronome and then over backing tracks when you feel comfortable.
Dont forget. Always practice with a metronome. There is no point to play fast and sloppy.
For any queries dont hesitate to ask me personally at

Zakk Wylde: no ozzy, no zakk wylde

You’re doing good? You’re feeling OK after your health scare thing?

Yeah, well, I had those blood clots. We were out on the road with the Mudvayne boys and it must have been going on for about a week that my leg started killing me. I was like, “What the fuck is going on?” It was behind my knee and my calf was killing me and it was going down into my heel and everything so I figured I tore my calf muscle or something. I didn’t break anything because I didn’t fall on stage; I didn’t trip; it wasn’t like I was messing around and I fell down or tripped or slammed something. I was just trying to figure out what it was from lifting weights or whatever.

If you mess yourself up the bottom line is people look at you and I say, “Dude, I fucked my ankle up; I don’t think I broke it but I just sprained it. Just give me a week and I’ll be back to normal.” But this was going on for about a week or so and then it kept getting worse. I’d be icing it down after the gig and go to sleep with it. I’d get up in the night and take a leak and that was like a full-on production. I’m like, “What the fuck is going on with my fucking leg, man?” I couldn’t even put any pressure on it or wanna walk on it.

Dimitar Nalbantov: Crumble Christmas

Dimitar Nalbantov with another cool demo track:

Alex Skolnick: guitarplayerdaily interview

It was very challenging, and at first I couldn’t really understand why it worked. When I first started looking at these chords and their substitutions I would think, “These are technically wrong but they work, they sound great,” so it was hard to get past that issue when I first started. After a while I began to understand that it had a lot to do with placement, with timing and rhythm. Which is one of the things that isn’t emphasized enough early on in jazz education. It’s not that scales, chords and arpeggios aren’t important, but rhythm is much more important than we can possibly realize when we first start studying jazz.
