Troy Stetina's Free Digital Guitar Lesson Magazine

The magazine is FREE and will remain FREE. Our first issue features lesson columns by:

  1. Mark Tremonti (Creed/Alter Bridge) shows you his favorite legato patterns, and his opening legato lick on "Burn" (on Troy's new Second Soul album).
  2. Michael Angelo Batio ("World's fastest guitarist" by Guitar World Magazine) shows you some of his favorite cyclic patterns for building picking speed.
  3. Dave Celentano (author, Centerstream Publishing) shows you some tasty classical arpeggated progressions from Bach's youngest protege.
  4. Jamie Andreas (author, Guitar Principles) shows why so many of you still suck at guitar, even though you practice, and how to fix this!
  5. Anthony Arroyo (guitarist, teacher of the Troy Stetina Series) shows you how to use anchor chords to navigate the neck more easily.
  6. Dale Turner (solo guitar artist, teacher and veteran guitar magazine columnist) shows you some chicken picking licks for rockers.
  7. Jason Vearing (guitarist, teacher and developer of Riff Axelerator software) shows you a lesson breakdown of an advanced lick from Troy's solo to "Deceiver" from the new Second Soul album, and how to build variations of this to make your own licks.
  8. Chris Buono (crazy guitar dude from GuitarOne magazine) shows you how to take blues a step further than more rockers ever dare to go.
  9. Don Parkhurst (teacher, rock-lessons.com) tells you how to structure your practice routine to get more out of yourself.
  10. Francesco Artusato (metal guitarist for All Shall Perish and solo artist)
  11. shows you some "outside the box" fusion licks, and explores ways to combine these lines.
  12. Jimmy Kane (Director of Hunts Annex Music School) shows you how to pull diminished lines out of the blues scale, to get extra dark and twisted sounds.
  13. German Schauss (Berlkee graduate now teaching at Los Angeles Music Academy) offers guidance to demystify the process of gaining sweep picking control.

Nili Brosh: new CD on the way.

Nili Brosh continues to progress in her guitar career. According to sources Nili is set to release her debut album on November 16th, 2010. The CD will be titled 'Through The Looking Glass.' More details to follow. In addition Nili has also be endorsing xotic preamps too.

BB Preamp, EP BoosterBB preamp- I have always found this pedal to be warm and creamy, but my favorite thing about it is how pick-sensitive it is. It is perfect for rhythm playing with a small amount of crunch, or for easily getting finger tone dynamics to speak on low-gain solos!
EP booster - I have experimented running my EP booster after several distortion pedals, and it always cleans the tone up and adds a lot of definition in the low mids. This pedal boosts the signal in a way that lets me cut through much more. What I love about Xotic is that the pedals sound great through any tube amp! more

Plus Nili has been appearing with the Iron Maidens, the super cover band on recent summer tour dates.

Don Alder: Guitar Player Wards announced, now on video

Guitar Player’s Guitar Superstar 2010!
Solo-Acoustic Player Don Alder Wins the Crown!

Guitar Player magazine’s sixth annual Guitar Superstar Competition was won by Vancouver, British Columbia, solo-acoustic player Don Alder on the night of September 18, 2010.

Alder stepped onstage completely alone, after several finalists with electric guitars had performed thrilling instrumental works backed up by the live house band. But Alder’s confident, entertaining, and technically flawless performance of his song, “The Rogue,” wowed the capacity crowd at Livermore, California’s Bankhead Theater, and garnered the only standing ovation of the night.

“He’s backstage, looking like he’s going to throw up because he doesn’t have a band, and he’s just playing an acoustic guitar all by himself, and then he goes out there and wins the whole show,” commented finalist Charlie Crowe, whose boisterous, in-the-pocket performance of “Intergalactic Cowboy” won him third-place honors.
