News Institute announces partnership with BMI

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance is proud to announce a new partnership with Broadcast Media, Inc. (BMI). Formed in 1939 as a non-profit-making performing right organization, BMI was the first to offer representation to songwriters of blues, country, jazz, r&b, gospel, folk, Latin and rock & roll. BMI exercises an open-door policy that welcomes songwriters, composers and music publishers of all disciplines, and helps them develop both the creative and business skills crucial to a career in music.

The Institute and BMI are already collaborating, along with Gibson Guitar, Hard Rock Café and SAE, on a regular industry showcase event called ‘Sofas and Strings’, further evidence of the support BMI and the Institute offer to unsigned, developing musicians and songwriters. As BMI continues to educate young musicians and creative minds on the service and support they provide, this new partnership moves forward with a workshop scheduled on Monday 4th April 2011 at the Institute’s London campus.

The Institute and BMI, two visionaries of quality, excellence and innovation in contemporary music, will be building on this relationship with numerous events being delivered, increasing the opportunities for developing musicians, writers and artists to build their networks and receive support and guidance with their musical careers.
