Jason Becker: Michał Kubicki Not Dead Yet festival review translated!

I met Michal Kubicki on the flight from London Heathrow to San Francisco flight. We shared some talks and coffees over the couple of days we were there. Michal is a great guy and friend to Jason Becker, even visiting Jason at his home in Richmond. Any Michal provided a review for the Polish guitar magazine, which he has kindly posted and translated.

Michał Kubicki: Rough translation: 'The name of the show seems somewhat dark but it was invented by Jason Becker himself, one of the greatest rock guitarists of the late '80s and early '90s of the 20th century. Today he's fighting very rare and incurable disease called ALS.'

Michał Kubicki: 'The show was organized by Jason Becker's friends like Dave Lopez of Flipsyde to collect some funds for the artist's further therapy. It attracted not only around one thousand fans but also a noble group of the greates guitar virtuosos. We c...ould see Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, Jeff Watson, Steve Hunter, and the best of the best prodigies of Mike Varney's late 80s label Shrapnel Record-Group: Richie Kotzen, Michael Lee Firkins, Greg Howe. However, the most secretly kept star was Marty Friedman. The musician came all the way from Japan to play Jason Becker inspired song "Devil Take Tomorrow'.On the stage one could also see other Becker's friends: Flametal Kehoe Nation, and Hot For Teacher who played the greatest hit Jason Becker composed for David Lee Roth "It's Show Time", with a solo played on Peavey Becker signature guitar b...y Jude Gold, a director at Guitar Institute of Technology and a great guitarist. The honorable place at the stage was taken by one and only Jason Becker. That kind of guitar stars constellation can only be seen at the shows like NAMM, but to see them all play on one stage, you had to be at Slim's. However, another opportunity is coming your way. An European edition of the Jason Becker's Not Dead Yet Festival will be organized in Amsterdam in Autumn this year. So, book your flights and make your schedules ready...
