Tony MacAlpine: Marco Minnemann MI gig announced

Tony Macalpine & Band Featuring Marco Minnemann In Concert
| Jul 14, 2011
Guitar virtuoso Tony MacAlpine, backed by a band featuring drummer/percussionist extraordinaire Marco Minnemann (the Aristocrats, Paul Gilbert, Nina Hagen, Necrophagist) plus Nili Brosh (Guitar) and Bjorn Englen (Bass) will perform a special concert at MI on Thursday, July 14.

Over a 25-year career, MacAlpine has produced, written, and arranged eleven solo instrumental studio albums. A leader in the neoclassical guitar virtuoso movement of the ‘80s, MacAlpine’s Edge of Insanity (1986), and Maximum Security (1987) are often cited as major influences. He also recorded and toured internationally with jazz-fusion supergroups Planet X and CAB as well as fellow virtuoso Steve Vai, which resulted in the double-platinum DVD Live at the Astoria.

MacAlpine’s new self-titled album, released in June, features performances on 7- and 8-stringed guitars, keyboards, bass and programming, along with appearances from drum legends Virgil Donati and Marco Minnemann. Tony endorses Ibanez guitars, Hughes & Kettner amplifiers, DiMarzio pickups and cables, Ernie Ball strings, Source Audio pedals, and Toontrack software.
