German Schauss: Total Shred Guitarist

The Total Shred Guitarist: A Fun and Comprehensive Overview of Shred Guitar Playing:
The Total Shred Guitarist is an exciting journey through the world of heavy metal guitar playing. Author and master shredder German Schauss provides a step-by-step approach to shred guitar that makes it easy to understand, proving that it's not rocket science. You just need some basic tools, some basic theory, and a lot of practice! Through simple chromatic patterns and warm-up exercises, you'll develop finger independence, conditioning, and speed. Learn patterns and sequences in a variety of scales, while developing technical fluency in alternate picking, tapping, multi-finger tapping, sweep picking, string skipping, and more. This book is for guitarists of all genres who are ready to break through the limitations of their technique and start shredding like they have always imagined. The included CD features backing tracks so you can hone your soloing skills and develop your own unique sound and style.

Chris Brooks: I LOVE living in Australia

Chris Brooks:
Well, thanks for the big words - much appreciated! I LOVE living in Australia. It really is the best! With the market being global these days, I don't really see the benefits of starting all over again in another country since the people who support me are spread all over the world. There's only going to be a limited local following in whatever city I live in. Right now I'm all about the power of the talent we have right here. With guys like Garsed, Dolce, Barnes, Muller right here, not to mention all the sensational drummers and bass players here, rather than thinking about moving to the "world stage", I'm gonna try and convince the world that the stage is right here in Oz!

Marcos De Ros,Guglielmo Malusardi: the guitar9 meeting of minds

Guglielmo Malusardi: So Marcos, introduce yourself to the G9 readers.

Marcos De Ros: OK, my name is Marcos, but all my friends call me by my last name, De Ros. I'm a 39-year-old Brazilian guitar player and it's an honor to talk with you!

I started to play at 9, and when I was 11, I bought my first guitar (Brazilian-made, not so bad). Then I start to play with my first band, "Garganthuae".

A little later I started taking violin lessons and at 15, I joined the Symphonic Orchestra of my city, Caxias do Sul. After a few years, I choose to play just one instrument, and guitar won! I don't know where my violin is - I believe it's under my bed, but I'm not sure (laughs)!

Guglielmo Malusardi: In 1991, you teamed up with bass player Fabio Alves and drummer Sandro Stecanela.

Marcos De Ros: With Fabio and Sandro I started an instrumental rock trio with the creative name "De Ros"! (laughs) With this power-trio, we recorded "Ad Dei Gloriam" (1994), a CD with lots of humor and some nice songs and later, "Universe" (1997), where you can hear some very different influences, from Indian music ("Para-Bhatki") and jazz-fusion ("Stressing Out"). Of course, there's a lot of instrumental prog-metal there! more: http://www.guitar9.com/interview159.html

Marcel Yammouni: Electicity - a must buy for every guitarist!

Jon Bloomer at guitar noize:
I’m always a fan of the rock tracks so ‘Full Dirties’ is one of my favourite tracks, it’s very Satriani/Petrucci with a strong theme carried throughout and a brilliant breakdown halfway through that has lots of interesting layered guitars before launching into a blazing solo with a touch of Wah.

The best way I can describe Marcel’s music is the way he describes himself in the title of the last track, he really is Van Beckather! He has the melodic sensibilities of Jeff Beck and Steve Lukather but the incredible flair of Van Halen. This album is a must buy for every guitarist! full review
