Trey Gunn,Henry Kaiser: Invisible Rays new CD

Henry Kaiser (guitar); Trey Gunn (guitar); Morgan Ågren (zither, drums)
A fortuitous meeting off the beaten track in Scandinavia has given rise to Invisible Rays, a spontaneous collaboration between two of the most innovative guitarists and one of the most explosive drummers on the planet. Trey Gunn (King Crimson), guitarist/improviser Henry Kaiser (too many famous collaborators to list) and drummer Morgan Agren (Zappa, Bill Laswell) first met at a music education conference in March, 2011 and within days were in the studio together. At once anchored and propelled by Agren's ferociously complex drumming, Invisible Rays soars through phantasmagoric soundscapes shaped and painted by searing electric guitars and raging bass lines. The impact is monumental.

Joe Bonamassa: picks his own Top Guitarists of All Time

Joe Bonamassa picks his own Top Guitarists of All Time

Once in a while a scorecard of the socalled "greatest" guitarists will come out, and then the chatter will pick up again. Such was the case a few weeks back when Rolling Stone published its 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list. I for one took exception to it, as you can see here.

And when I called acclaimed picker Joe Bonamassa in Bakersfield, California, the other day in advance of his upcoming Vancouver gig, the subject came up again. As expected, Bonamassa didn't complain that he wasn't on the list more

Amsterdam. Sitting in a hotel room somewhere between Amsterdam and Haarlem. Just had lunch with Guthrie Govan and Stéphane Forté. Guthrie and I hung out and drank beer the entire evening while the other guys rehearsed. In the bar of the hotel the waitress told us she just came back with her husband from Australia having seen Steely Dan at a vineyard. She also informed us that Alison Krauss sounds twice as good if dropping LSD at the same time. Yeah? Right...Thank you Kris, Guglielmo, Laurie and everyone involved for an amazing night.

Get over and read the full blog post, pictures quips and oddities..

Steve Brown: Trixter back for a new CD

Steve Brown:
"The band [Trixter] has been playing together for the last four years, so making a new record is the next logical step. We are all very excited.

"The new CD will be entitled 'New Audio Machine' and is a classic style melodic hard rock album. All the sounds people have loved about TRIXTER will be there... Great songs, big guitar riffs, catchy vocals and a huge bottom end. A total big rock production!!!"
