Chris Poland: Polcat review

Hanging out in Andy’s Jazz Club amongst the usual suspect jazz lovers is really not my idea of night that is going to be an all out gas. But, I’ll make exceptions when exceptional musicians are in any place! Last night was one of those nights. A jazz fusion supergroup of men that go by the title, Polcat. Polcat consists of the astounding talents of fusion guitar icon Chris Poland (OHM/Megadeth), Grammy nominated sax giant Frank Catalano (Miles Davis, Beyonce’ to Bennett and everything in between), Internationally acclaimed solo artist/bassist Sean O’Bryan Smith (Larry Carlton to Keith Urban and other parts unknown), and drum phenomenon Jim Gifford (Guthrie Govan, Bill “Buddha” Dickens, Roy Vogt and more). It was great to see a couple of random metal heads with cammo shorts and long hair floating in a sea of business casual and the music tied it all together so well.
