Corbin King: announces new instrumental album

Corbin King guitarist for VAINGLORY/KINRICK, has just released his Nightwalker album on Diginet Music. This all instrumental release showcases Corbin's prowess. Producer David T. Chastain states: "Corbin has the technique to match JOHN PETRUCCI, PAUL GILBERT and the like plus the heavy blues rock sensibility of STEVIE RAY VAUGHN. This combination creates a style that is impressive but at the same time has quite the emotional aura. He is not a mindless shredder."

Joining Corbin on this CD are drummer Mike Haid and bassist Steven Taylor. http://www.diginetmusic.com/corbinnw.htm

Alex Skolnick: Metal riff with AmpKit and AmpKit LiNK

We had the privilege to spend an afternoon with Alex to discuss his favorite gear, his thoughts about AmpKit, and the tools he uses to form and develop ideas. While we were talking, he was kind enough to lay down two tracks. In this video, Alex uses the Budda SD30 rhythm channel with a D-Delay to produce his jazz sound.

The audio you hear in this video is the pure wet recording, exported straight out of AmpKit.

George Harrison: ipad app coming soon

The Guitar Collection: George Harrison iPad App
To Be Released February 23
BANDWDTH Publishing, in conjunction with the George Harrison Estate, announces the release of a special iPad app celebrating the guitarist and his historical guitar collection. The Guitar Collection: George HarrisoniPad app will be released through iTunes on February 23, two days before George’s birthdate.
You can see a video preview of the app here.

The app brings George Harrison’s private guitar collection to life through photographs, detailed descriptions, audio, and video footage. For the first time, with the help of unique 360° imaging by photographer Steven Sebring, fans can see the scratches, dings, and worn threads on the guitars as if they were themselves holding the instruments.

Fans will be able to examine Harrison’s private guitar collection, through personal audio recordings from Harrison himself as he introduces many of the guitars and plays sections of songs.
The history of each guitar is laid out in great detail; including the origin of the guitar, when and how it became part of Harrison’s collection, modifications he made to it and why each was so important in creating his distinctive sound. Songs from his catalogue are organized by the guitars used on each track, which allows the user to appreciate the personalities of each instrument.
The video section of the app contains footage ofBen HarperJosh HommeMike Campbell, and Dhani Harrison each playing and showcasing the guitars and exploring their feel and tone. In addition, Conan O’Brien and Dhani discuss what make these guitars so exceptional. Also in this section, guitar great Gary Mooreshares his views on what made George Harrison such a distinctive and influential guitar player.
The app will sell for $9.99 at the Apple App Store.

Jeff Loomis,Marty Friedman, Tony MacAlpine, Chris Poland: Jeff's NAMM and new album details

Jeff Loomis:
“A couple of years ago I achieved my childhood dream of releasing a solo album. With the releasing of my second record coming up, I’m proud to announce another dream come true… or should I say dreams… Marty Friedman, Tony MacAlpine and Chris Poland have all done guest solos for it. These guys must have given me hundreds of blisters on my fingers when I was a kid trying in vain to emulate their work. Hell, I’m still trying to figure out some of their solos. To have three guitar players that I looked up to as a young player and still hold in such high regard is simply amazing. I can’t thank those guys enough.

In other news, I’ll be down in Southern CA next week for this year’s NAMM show. I have two new Schecter models that I’ll be showing and I’ll be doing a signing Saturday, the 21st, at their booth at 1pm as well as another one later that day with Engl Amps at 5. Also, I just confirmed a full US tour for April. I can’t wait to get back out on the road again. More details on that soon.”

News: SOPA should Truth In Shredding Black Out?

Do I join the campaign? Smaller sites can get in on the protest as well. A site, sopastrike.com, has been set up by theFight for the Future non-profit. It allows anyone with a website to join the strike. The site’s list of all registered blackout participants contains hundreds of small websites.
