News: Rockschool Offer FREE Master Classes At Edinburgh Guitar & Music Festival 2013



Rockschool, the only exam board dedicated to offering accredited qualifications in popular music, are delighted to be able to offer FREE, exclusive guitar and bass master classes, plus band workshops at the inaugural Edinburgh Guitar & Music Festival 2013.

The new Edinburgh Guitar & Music Festival will be the largest of its kind to be held in Scotland and will take place from the 25th to 27th May 2013 in the historic Corn Exchange. Aiming to attract participants and visitors from all over the world, there will be an extensive programme of world-class performances, seminars and competitions as well as a trade exhibition. Headline artists announced include Sandi Thom, Jan Akkerman and Donnie Munro.

Rockschool will be at the festival offering FREE guitar and bass master classes on Saturday 25th May. Rock School’s own rock and metal specialist, Charlie Griffiths, who teaches at the ICMP and performs with his own acclaimed metal band Haken, will be demonstrating elements of metal technique and theory. Bass professional Stuart Clayton, who teaches at BIMM and has toured extensively with legendary drummer Carl Palmer, will be revealing tips on the techniques and theory of playing bass and discussing the intricacies of slap bass. Both being will be able to guide participants on how to work their way through some of the more challenging tunes in the Rockschool syllabus as well as performing some of those tracks live and answering all your questions. 

On Sunday the Rockschool band, featuring George Wood (guitar), Becky Baldwin (bass) and Miguel Andrews (drums), will be offering band master classes. The guys will be playing all the best tunes from the 2012 syllabus and exclusively showcasing some of the new tracks from the hotly anticipated Hot Rock Guitar Grade 4 & 5 books. They will be offering hints, tips and guidance about playing together as a band and learning to work as a group. These high energy, innovative and interactive master-classes, will give you the opportunity to get to grips with some of the jaw-dropping tracks on the new syllabus and listen to them played live. Plus there'll be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and meet the band.
On top of all that, Rockschool will also be offering BIG DISCOUNTS across their whole study book range and the first chance to preview the hotly anticipated new Hot Rocks Guitar grades 4 and 5 books prior to their launch.
