The Institute, London, announces winners of Italian Scholarships

London’s Institute of Contemporary Music Performance is pleased to announce the winners of its inaugural Italian Scholarship programme, run together with Italian education partners Sonus Factory and Scuola di Music Cluster, and media partners Chitarre and DrumSet Magazines.

The finals were held at Scuola di Music Cluster in Milan and Sonus Factory in Rome respectively. Each finalist in guitar, bass, and drums was interviewed by a panel of judges including Pete Whittard, Institute Director, and Justin Scott, Head of Drums at the Institute, followed by a five minute live performance.

The judges were extremely impressed by the high standard of all the entries, and after long deliberation chose twenty-four year old Carlo Salaris from Accademia del Suono for the 2013 DrumSet Mag Scholarship, whilst the 2013 Chitarre Scholarship went to twenty year old, guitarist Marco Boni from L'Accademia Centro Musicale Polivalente.

These students will now relocate to the Institute’s prestigious London campus for 10 weeks to attend an intensive performance course. The scholarship also includes flights to and from London and accommodation.

Drum Scholarship winner Carlo, expressed his excitement on being granted the award: “I can't even believe that it really happened to me! This is a great privilege and I can't wait to do my best. I'm sure the experience will increase my passion!”

The Institute would like to thank all involved in supporting the scholarship programme; in particular Sonus Factory, Scuola di Music Cluster, L’Accademia Chitarre and Drum Set Mag.
