60 Second Solo Contest - Danilo Ciamprone Entry
Hi Everybody!
Here I am again with my entry for this great contest.
In this solo I decided to combine my two passions: electric guitar and symphonic music. I added to the backing track some violins, violas, cellos, double bass and other orchestral sounds: I looked for a sound which could mean a true "musical prayer" to me.

I hope you will like the result too.

Kurdt Vanderhoof: Metal Church back for another service

Metal Church "Generation Nothing" marks the bands 10th full length studio release and boasts the return to the band's classic metal sound, says founding member Kurdt Vanderhoof, "It has elements of both the first album and the "The Dark", but still embraces the new sound of the band without chasing the past."

Born out of the West Coast Metal scene in the 80's, Metal Church quickly became one of the standout talents of their genre. The band's first release simply entitled "Metal Church" postured the band as one of the pioneers of the thrash/metal scene, while their sophomore release "The Dark” was championed as one of the premier metal releases of the 80's.

Now with the current band’s line up, Kurdt Vanderhoof (guitar), Ronny Munroe (vox), Jeff Plate (drums), Rick Van Zandt (guitar) and Steve Unger on bass, "Generation Nothing" combines the best elements of the band’s early roots with modern day lyrical content and a revived hunger that delivers an electric assault of anthemic & epic metal songs! Videos for "Generation Nothing" and "Dead City" are currently in the post production stage and a world tour is in the works for 2014. Official release date for "Generation Nothing" is scheduled for October 22, 2013.

Christie Lenee Trio "Raining a Miracle" LIVE in Roanoke, VA 4/20/13

Album Notes
Christie Lenée has been capturing a wide audience, touring frequently and delivering vibrant energy at every show across the US. Her unique guitar work is often compared to visionaries like Michael Hedges, Bela Fleck, Andy McKee, and John Mayer- fusing folky/funky playfulness with pop/rock inspired songs and virtuosic guitar compositions. She is, as Skope Magazine states, “a refreshing burst of unrestrained love and feeling… It’s simply a joy to listen to her spirit break free.”

Christie has been seen many times on stage with Tim Reynolds (guitarist for Dave Matthews Band) and a stellar cast of musicians including Amy Ray (Indigo Girls), Jeff Coffin, and Stanley Jordan. Her eclectic guitar skills have not only accompanied other great artists, but she has also played a multitude of instruments on her own records. An extensive original repertoire of both vocal and instrumental music showcases her extensive musical background, with studies including classical, jazz, rock, blues, folk and flamenco. Her innate ability to fuse these styles propels an eruption of harmonic fluidity, delivering profound expressions and a vibrant live performance.

Christie was recently endorsed by Engler Innovations to compose music for “The Engle,” a drumstick for guitar that launched onto the market in January of 2012. Being a compositional pioneer for this new product has inspired an abundance of innovative techniques and a unique percussive approach to the guitar.

“The Engle” is featured on Christie’s new instrumental album “Chasing Infinity,” often performed on a Veillette Soprano 12 string guitar called “The Gryphon” which creates a worldly sound unlike anything ever heard. Some have compared this sound to a choir of hammered dulcimers, or what you might hear if a 12-string guitar and a mandolin had a child. Combined with “The Engle” or “guitar hammer,” you may hear songs like "Raining a Miracle" or "Eastward Horizon" and have no idea what you’re listening to until seeing it visually. Even so, watching a performance can often fool the mind to think that you are hearing multiple instruments at the same time.

Adding to her percussive fingerstyle and two-handed tapping guitar collection, Christie recently decided to record her first completely instrumental album. This record was an enormous endeavor on her musical path as a composer and touring/recording artist, coming to completion of her 4th digitally released project out of hundreds of songs and compositions.

The album “Chasing Infinity” creates a compelling sonic journey through mountains of dynamics, harmonic textures, upbeat grooves and meditative moods. It also includes two bonus acoustic duets featuring Tim Reynolds, completely improvised in the studio with Tim on nylon and Christie on acoustic. Such impromptu magic is frequent for the two guitarists, and can be seen on various stages and videos on Christie Lenée's YouTube Channel Playlist entitled "Tim Reynolds and Christie Lenée": .

But she’s not stopping now. In fact, she's preparing to go back into the studio to finish her next full band/vocal production already in the works. Meanwhile, extensive touring across the US is continuing to expand in her desire to bring positive energy and uplifting joy to the world. Christie thrives on bringing communities together through music, touching hearts, and enlivening inspiration to people. In her words: “this is what I live for.”

“Christie Lenée is a wonderful spirit making beautiful music on the guitar. She has epic compositions that take one on a journey through time.” (Tim Reynolds, Guitarist for Dave Matthews Band and TR3)

Lee Wrathe: Becker's Bolero a tribute to Jason Becker

Working on some new tracks for a new record, I've decided to film my recording sessions. This track is a tribute to the legend that is, and will always be, mr Jason Becker (hence the track name).

If you don't know who Jason is, well I don't have enough room to capture all that, but suffice to say he's an inspirational person and amazing musician. Go buy his music and read about his journey!

I tried my best to create a Becker style vibe to my phrasing on this track, I also used a lot of triplet feel licks, that's why i called it a Bolero (although it's not strictly a Bolero..i just liked the name, lol!) these were my first few ideas.
I hope you enjoy it, please share as you wish and sub for more of these videos. I will be filming the final stages of guitar part construction and recording and then (hopefully)the mixing and mastering process of all the tracks as i get around to putting them together.
Best wishes

Marco Sfogli: music player Truly ReMarcoble Guitarist interview posted

MS: Well back in the early days, I was totally into Edie Van Halen. You know when Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” came out that solo changed my life. I was listening to what ever was hair metal and glam metal back then, so bands like Europe, Kee Marcello, and then I discovered all the Shrapnel [Records] guys, you know the golden age of guitar. And, since I was really young I was—I had the pleasure actually, this is something that maybe a lot of contemporary guys missed out, but I in some ways lived that era, so I breathed that music when it came out. I’m pretty, happy about that and I’m grateful that I had the chance because I actually had… I have an older brother who played guitar who was lending me all these tapes and you know, you remember, of course you remember these [instructional] VHS tapes of “Star Licks” stuff and I remember my dad got me for my birthday the Vinnie Moore tape, and I couldn’t play that stuff, but I just tried to incorporate some of the stylistic stuff into my early playing.

So I definitely say the early Van Halen, then Joe Satriani of course. And then later on obviously I came through to Dream Theater and John Petrucci. That’s a cool story that few people know actually. When I first heard of Dream Theater, and it was right when Images and Words came out, my brother lent me this tape, and it wasn’t an original tape, he just copied the original stuff, and he scrambled the songs. And I was coming from the straight rock glam stuff, so when I heard that for the first time, I just said, What’s this crap? I just took it away, no, I threw the tape away and I went back to my usual listening. Then, next year I was cleaning my room and I found this tape again. And… it was instant love. So I wasn’t ready [laughs], I totally wasn’t ready the first time that I heard the band. And from then on, you know, I started listening to all the prog bands, like Rush, Yes, and… later on Genesis and King Crimson, all the prog stuff of the ‘70s. And then Andy Timmons who actually heavily influenced and shaped my playing to a new level, in terms of improvisation and, you know, even incorporating some jazzy leads into rock playing.

Today, today there are a lot of badass guys actually, which some of them I had the pleasure to work with or just meet some of them. I’m talking about Guthrie Govan, for example, or Andy James from UK, and Tom Quayle. These are, I think, killer players that will bring, that just set the bar really high on the guitar. So those are my past and present influences.
