Swedish Doom gathering AVATARIUM has just put out a solo trailer for their first two singles ''Moonhorse' and its , B-Side track 'Boneflower', that have been released on September 20, 2013 via Nuclear Blast.

The band, that features legendary Doom Metal pioneer Leif Edling (CANDLEMASS) on bass, Marcus Jidell (EVERGREY) on guitar, Lars Sköld (TIAMAT) on drums, keyboardist Carl Westholm and singer extraordinaire Jennie-Ann Smith is about to unleash its self-titled full-length debut album on November 01, 2013 via Nuclear Blast.

Commented guitarist Marcus Jiddel on creating the solo parts of 'Moonhorse': "I was asked to play the two solos for 'Moonhorse' but since both these solos are totally improvised there wasn't a chance that I could play the same thing again. So I did two new solos in front of the camera where I tried to put in the same feel as in the album solos. I hope you'll enjoy."

And on the video itself: "This is how I play the riffs from 'Moonhorse' and 'Boneflower'. When I sat down and filmed this I really felt how much I want to play these songs live, can't wait!!"

Richie Allan: answering the question on

How do you approach altered harmony ? Do you rely more on your ear when playing non-diatonically over dissonant chord progressions, or do you follow specific rules which work for you ? I've noticed that you switch between 'inside' and 'outside' playing in a very seamless and melodic way. Beautiful.
Its a bit of my ear ....... majority is feel and mind, everything I do is in my head and my ear comes into play when translating the physical side of playing and what is already composed in me ....... I just seem to stay in a realm where anything goes, it feels amazing.
if you had to choose a pedal board other than the axe fx, what would it be?
I'd use some brand of head and cab..... bad horsie wah, ts 808 keeley, digitech whammy, amp fx loop.... into either an eventide eclipse or a tc electronics g system ....... basic as.
How long have you played an ibanez for? You never got on that Strat buzz or someting?
I've been playing Ibanez for 20+ years ...... never was on that strat buzz, I like the strat tone especially for detuned distorted rhythm stuff.

What pedals would be for you essential in a pedalboard?
I keep it simple an over drive or some kind of boost... but this thing isnt a problem with the Axe FX II.

I recently discovered Heavy metal ninjas through guitar messenger and of course i was amazed by your playing! I must say you are definitely among the best metal players today! So care to explain your biggest infuences on guitar and also give some info on your guitars and pickup combinatons you use?
Thanks..... My biggest influences would be Gary Moore, Jason Becker, Steve Vai and Fredrik Thordandal.... I'm strickly Ibanez and DiMarzio, guitars used the most RGD2127Z with DiMarzio (neck) Liquifire, (bridge) Blaze Custom and my RG8 (modded HSH config) all DiMarzio Ionizers.

Hedras Ramos: Cort Guitars Works With Guitar Sensation

Cort Guitars Works With Guitar Sensation Hedras Ramos Jr.

OCTOBER 21, 2013 - To help promote their product line, Cort Guitars has been searching the world over for the next guitar sensation. They have found it in Hedras Ramos Jr., a young Guatemalan who has already been making a splash of his own. The two initially teamed up for a clinic tour throughout Latin America last August. The clinics were held at exclusive authorized Cort dealers in Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Argentina allowing fans and musicians the opportunity to meet Ramos and try out the extensive line of Cort Guitars.

Years of intense practicing and dedication have paid off for the Guatemala based Ramos. In 2009, he took 2nd place in the international Guitar Idol, held in London at the age of 17. He was the youngest of the finalist and that success led him to numerous product endorsements and playing opportunities. Noted guitarists such as Jennifer Batten and Andy James have made guest appearances on his CD’s, he has now shared the stage with Switchfoot, Kansas, and Guns and Roses and the video game Rock Band teamed with him to release his own version of the game. In 2011 Sir Christopher Lee, noted for his acting role as Count Dracula and Lord Saruman in Lord of the Rings hired Ramos to take on lead guitar duties on his latest album, Charlemagne: The Omens of Death.

When asked about why he decided to team up with Cort, Hedras replied, “I have used some very impressive guitars over the years. I’ve even been given some expensive, handmade guitars. But the Cort guitars have impressed me, more than I could have ever imagined. In terms of tone, intonation, aesthetics, and craftsmanship, Cort guitars are top quality. They are the right guitars for me, they feel like home!”

Tom Scholz: Boston latest studio album, "Life, Love & Hope" will be released in the UK

On Monday December 9thBOSTON’S latest studio album, "Life, Love & Hope" will be released in the UK by Frontiers Records. More than a decade in the making, the new album features 11 tracks replete with the classic and beloved BOSTON sound, as well as the latest in the evolution of Tom Scholz' musical artistry.

Diverse and cohesive, the long-awaited album has something for everyone. It fulfils the expectations of Boston fans, while exposing a new generation to one of the world’s greatest rock’n’roll bands.
Scholz says, "These are songs from the heart, each of them taking many months of effort to write, arrange, perform and record, always up to the demands of BOSTON's harshest critic. Me. The songs have been meticulously recorded to analogue tape on the same machines and equipment used for BOSTON'S hits for the past 35 years."

In 1976, BOSTON burst onto the music scene with their eponymous best-selling debut album and never looked back.  With over 17 million copies sold, BOSTON'S hits included More Than a FeelingPeace of Mind, and Smokin' - rock staples that are still in heavy rotation today.  Read the official press release

“Life, Love & Hope” includes lead vocals from Brad Delp and prodigy Tommy DeCarlo, as well as Kimberley DahmeDavid Victor, and songwriter Scholz himself. The new album features tracks that embody BOSTON’S trademark guitars, harmonies, and immaculately-crafted sound.  "I intentionally stayed close to the early BOSTON style on some of the songs, even using the same amps and instruments; on others I let my imagination run wild," says Scholz.
