Sam Birchall is an exciting new talent. His guitar skills reflect years of study and play which began seriously when he started a diploma course at famous London based Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, ICMP. Sam went on to study with Guitar World's Martin Goulding for a year. A step change in his playing came when he decided to take up correspondence study with Charlie Banacos (http://www.charliebanacos.com ). These lesson really changed Sam's approach to playing.

Sam says: I can’t remember how I heard about Charlie. I think it was reading an interview with Wayne Krantz or Mike Stern, and his name kept popping up, so I found his website and wrote him a letter. He had such a great way for teaching the techniques of jazz improvisation and laying them out as raw material you can apply to any genre. It was all done on cassette tape too, so every 2 weeks I would get a cassette through the mail with him telling me what he wanted to hear me playing next. He really piled the pressure on as well to practice crazy amounts.
Currently Sam makes a living teaching, whilst working on my playing, and debut E.P. Sam says "My goal is to try and get a trio together to make modern metal/ fusion with lots of improvisation.
