Friends family and loved ones. As many of you know I was hospitalized for over 90 days. What happened was, I wasn't feeling well so my mom suggested we go to ER at Lutheran General. Once there they did tests and told my mom that I suffered from a bacterial infection that was near my brain , down my spine and in my back .They said they needed to do emergency brain-neck -spine to back surgery. It was a 6 hr operation that they told my mom I had a 50-50 chance of surviving. I spent 35 days in ICU heavily medicated. While in there they also found sepsis, and mersa set in, and I had a bedsore on each butt cheek , the size of a silver dollar.I was treated with an antibiotic cocktail for well over 75 days between hospitals.I had a total of 11 mri's. I also caught pneumonia there where they had to give me a tracheotomy and a feed tube .They told me that I "might not ever be able to walk or play the guitar ever again"The surgery damaged some nerves in my left shoulder and I couldn't raise it . I was devastated . After the 35 days there I got transferred to Holy Family Medical Center where I continued my meds and light physical therapy ...They removed my trach there and I had to relearn how to talk or project my voice . After 28 days there I got transferred to schwab rehabilitation hospital where I began an intensive physical therapy regime while still on that anti biotic cocktail . All the while my mom by my side every step of the way ... She was and still is my rock , my strength.I had to relearn how to walk which was very hard because I lost so much weight , 80 pounds,in the hospital that my ham strings atrophied to the width of my thumb. I had to relearn day to day activities such as dress brush my teeth etc. After 20 days of intense rehab there I went home on May 15th to continue recovery and out patient therapy .I was out of work for 6 months with no compensation .I'm back to playing guitar .As you can imagine my medical bills are way out of hand considering 35 days in ICU, another month in intermediate ICU And rehab hospital . I'm back to work doing what I can to pay what I can yet still provide for myself and my mom. One positive aspect of this experience , is that I have developed a new level of appreciation of my life and my friendships which I cherish so deeply. So many people have asked if they can contribute ,donate, or help out in any way . I am so appreciative of your desire to help and I have created this page in response.
