Scott Henderson's impressive work over the years as co-leader of the group TRIBAL TECH, leader of his own ground breaking trio, and sideman to some of the best jazz artists of their generation, including the great Joe Zawinul, has elevated him to the front ranks of both Jazz and Blues. Besides being a world class player and premier composer, Scott's trademark is his beautiful tone and striking ability to blend Blues, Rock, Funk, and Jazz, creating a soulful and unique voice on the guitar.

"Henderson wreaks havoc on his guitar amid howling bottleneck notes, multihued chord voicings and ungodly hype-mode licks atop the rhythm section's slamming grooves and agile progressions. He often harmonizes with bassist Travis Carlton and during a variety of movements the trio summons an Armageddon with supple and heightening choruses within the prog-metal domain." - Glenn Astarita, All About Jazz

"Vibe Station reminds us once again of what an unbelievable talent Scott Henderson truly is. If you haven't yet discovered the genius of this remarkable guitar player, now is the perfect time to do so." - Peter Pardo, Sea Of Tranquility

Guitarist Scott Henderson's 5th solo project exhibits elements of jazz, rock & blues, but has a bigger variety of textures and tones. The new all instrumental CD features bassist Travis Carlton (son of Larry) & drummer extraordinaire Alan Hertz. Henderson speaks of the new work as the most challenging project of his career. Says Scott, “I'm really excited about this record because our trio has been touring a lot and that energy came through on all the performances. The music is still blues-based, but also has a lot of harmonic content. The big change is no vocals, which challenged me as a guitarist to write material which can be played in a vocal way on the guitar, while incorporating my own chord-melody style. I think fans will enjoy the scope of this record because it has elements of blues, rock, jazz and funk. There's something for everyone here.” Scott also said that the majority of the songs are layered with multi guitar tracks, utilizing many different guitars, pedals, amps and speaker combinations, making it the most textural and versatile sounding album he's ever done. Travis Carlton on bass and Alan Hertz on drums make this project and live show very much groove-based. Says Scott, “I need to see people moving in their seats. I'm not interested on putting on an intellectual show for musicians only. I don't believe I need to dumb down the music to appeal to people who aren't musicians, because when Travis and Alan play together, the groove is going to attack you whether you're a musician or not”.

Hey guys!!

So one of the shining moments of E3 for a lot of us was Fallout 4. The first one I played was Fallout 2 back in '98 I think it was and have been loving not just the game but the idea of it ever since. I went to FB to get some suggestions from you all and decided to give the Fallout 3 theme a shot along with some oldie tunes, Blue Moon - I didnt base it off of the Sinatra version in the game, and Ain't that a kick in the head. I wish I could have included all the oldies but I need Tony Bennett with me :) I also did my best to accent the game as much as I could. Thank you guys so much for everything! It means the world. BIG BIG ups for always rocking my casbah!

Best to ya

Jeff Kollman: checks in from the road with Sebastian Bach

Jeff Kollman (COSMOSQUADBOMBASTIC MEATBATSGLENN HUGHES) is the latest addition to theSEBASTIAN BACH touring band which also features Kollman’s long-time musical companion Kevin Chown (BOMBASTIC MEATBATSTARJA) on bass and Bobby Jarzombek (FATES WARNINGHALFORDRIOT) on drums.  Kollman will be with Bachfor the rest of his current U.S. run of dates which ends July 14 in DallasTX.

“Hey everyone, I’m six dates into the tour with Sebastian Bach and I’m having a blast!  Playing all these places around the Midwest is taking me right back to the Edwin Dare days and all the rock’n’roll craziness (KevinChown and I lived through when we were kids. It’s so great to be playing with these guys – Sebastian is a powerhouse and killin' it every night, Bobby is a machine (only took us about a dozen year to finally play together in a band situation!), and Kevin is like a musical brother.  You gotta come out and see this band – it just keeps getting better now that we’re dialed in. Check out the cover of Jimi Hendrix' ‘Fire’ www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDpfzChdq8Y we did the other night in Sioux FallsSD!  We’re at this great amphitheatre in Sterling HeightsMI tonight, ready to rock, and then we've got another dozens shows between Ohio and Texas.  Can’t wait!”
In other Kollman news, the guitarist recently reunited with ASIA feat. John Payne for a one-off show at the Canyon Club in Los AngelesCA.  Footage of the 1982 classic ‘Heat of the Moment’ can be viewed at this location: www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3zPfJ-pTfw
Kollman will also be back with Japanese superstar Eikicki Yazawa later this fall.  Confirmed tour dates include the ‘Rock In Dome’show at Tokyo’s giant Tokyo Dome on September 5.

Finally, Kollman has announced a demo archives compilation of early recordings from his pre-EDWIN DARE days, set to be released sometime in the fall.  Tentatively titled ‘Jeff & Tommy Kollman – the Heavy Metal Teenage Years’; the album is set to contain 18 songs from the brothers’ formative years in Toledo, OH before they set out to conquer the world with their first band VXN.

Niko Tsonev: Improvised Baroque Canon Fugue for Guitar and Eventide H9 Harmonizer

Improvised Baroque Canon Fugue for Guitar and Eventide H9 Harmonizer..
Niko Tsonev
Recently I've been practicing improvised Baroque modulations. It's not dissimilar to jazz harmony practice..but different.

So I tweaked my Eventide H9's Delay for a pitched (octave down) repeat followed by a regular (non pitched) repeat to recreate a Baroque-style Canon Fugue counterpoint effect.

Needless to say this (the repeat) limits harmonic shifts (change of chords) since it often leads to "clashing" notes.
Which makes the whole thing more like playing chess really-quite structured and needing "informed" choices.

The setting would work even better for a written piece!
That's it. Cheers. N

Richard Tull: Fear - all wide stretches - stunning lick laden instrumental - don't pay this guy by the note!

Richard Tull

I'm finally getting around to videoing this thing next Friday. It is a complete pita - all wide stretches (3 note per string pentatonics, Hungarian minor scales, etc.)! lol! As fast as I can play for 3 minutes straight! I cut out all the filler.
