Trey Gunn, Michael Cozzi: The Security Project Feat. King Crimson, Shriekback and Peter Gabriel Members To Tour In Support of New Live Album

The Security Project Feat. King Crimson, Shriekback and Peter Gabriel Members To Tour In Support of New Live Album

"Seattle, WA - The Security Project, featuring members of King Crimson, Shriekback and Peter Gabriel's original band bring the genre-less masterpieces of Peter Gabriel into the 21st Century on their new live album “Live 1”. Seattle-based Trey Gunn and Michael Cozzi join esteemed drummer Jerry Marotta and NY keyboardist David Jameson to harness the core of these songs. Added to the pedigree of these players is the voice of Brian Cummins, whose interpretations add haunting authenticity to the immaculate arrangements.

These live recordings are a first – no one has dared take on Peter Gabriel's material at this level before!

Jerry Marotta says: “Peter was always great at setting the table for us as musicians; he always got us started with great ideas… As we were creating SECURITY we had no idea we were making something so unique… I’m proud that with Security Project we’re able to deliver the deepest of those songs, and do it with real conviction — playing them live.”

Marotta and Gunn first met when recording “The First Day” with David Sylvian and Robert Fripp in Woodstock, NY. Their friendship and musical partnership eventually led to The Security Project.

Says Trey, “This material is ridiculously special. Of course, Peter is a special artist. But the material on his first few records, especially the 3rd and 4th ones, are productions with no peer. The Security Project can really play these epic pieces. We bring the same level of detailed precision to arrangements that are present in the originals. And then some. We not only play some of the pieces authentically we also take many pieces and put our own twist on them. 'Here Comes The Flood' and our melding of 'Games Without Frontiers' with 'Of These, Hope' from 'The Last Temptation of Christ' soundtrack are just two examples.”

Jerry Marotta
Drummer, Multi-Instrumentalist, and Producer Jerry Marotta has recorded and toured with Peter Gabriel, The Indigo Girls, Hall and Oates, Tears For Fears, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Trey Gunn, Cher, 10,000 Maniacs, David Sylvian, Robert Fripp, Robbie Robertson, Ani DiFranco, Suzanne Vega, Sarah McLachlan, Tony Levin, Todd Rundgren, Los Lobos, and Stevie Nicks, to name only a few. Through his extensive touring experience and performances on hundreds of albums Jerry has worked with many of the greatest artists in the world. His unique musical skills have graced myriad movie soundtracks, video games, TV shows, and percussion software over the past 4 decades.

Trey Gunn
A native Texan who resides in Seattle, Gunn is known for the unusual 10-string touch guitar that he plays. From the blistering live recordings at the Royal Albert Hall in London with David Sylvian and Robert Fripp (“Damage”, Virgin Records) to ten years recording and touring with King Crimson – a group many contend as the most aggressively, adventurous rock band of all time – Gunn is associated with a constant stream of cutting edges projects. Gunn has toured and/or recorded with TOOL, John Paul Jones, Maynard J. Keenan's “Puscifer”, Vernon Reid, Azam Ali, David Hykes of the Harmonic Choir and Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree. He currently runs his own media label (7d Media) while dividing his time between solo work; his projects TU, KTU, The Security Project, 3Below and Quodia; film/TV scoring and coaching musicians in the creative process.

Michael Cozzi
Originally from Wales & London, Cozzi got his start in the mid 80's as the guitarist for the group Shriekback which had the pleasure of touring with “Simple Minds” “INXS” and “Peter Gabriel”. In the early 90's, Cozzi joined “Sky Cries Mary” with whom he co wrote 5 albums and toured extensively. During this time Cozzi opened up his recording studio “Moscozzi Studio” where he co-wrote and produced the last two SCM albums “Here and Now” and “Small Town”. He has written and produced music for bands, films, commercials, and video games, which led to him meeting and working with Trey Gunn. Two years ago Trey asked Cozzi if he knew of a guitarist for The Security Project, Cozzi put his hand up like a kid in the classroom and said “me me me”.

Brian Cummins
Brian has toured all over Europe with The Carpet Crawlers and with Mick Pointer's Marillion. When originally approached about The Security Project he thought it was a joke. “Play with Jerry Marotta and Trey Gunn? And performing some of my favorite music in the world? Come on!” Once it became clear to Brian this was no joke, he was on the first plane to Woodstock.”

David Jameson
Keyboardist/Eigenharpist David Jameson began his music career in the late 1970's – the heyday of powerful keyboard players. He spent several years touring with Time Machine and then left the music scene for a career at IBM after completing a PHD in Computer Science at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. At IBM, Jameson created and managed the Computer Music Research group and was elected to the prestigious IBM Academy of Technology. David left IBM to found Digiportal Software and Deskew Technologies that develops the acclaimed Scorecerer sheet music manager application for the iPad. He also designs MaxMSP applications and libraries for live performance and for the Eigenharp – an electronic hybrid instrument akin to a computerized bassoon that features heavily in The Security Project shows. In addition to working with The Security Project, David also performs with Beyond The Wall.

The Security Project tour dates:
May 18 - Seattle WA - Columbia City Theatre
May 19 - Seattle WA - Columbia City Theatre
May 20 - Portland OR - Alberta Rose Theatre
May 21 - Eugene OR - Cozmic
May 24 - Santa Cruz CA - D Quixote Music Hall (Openers: Walker Brothers)
May 25 - San Francisco CA - The Social Hall (Openers Amy X and Barry Cleveland)
May 28 - LOS ANGELES CA - The Whittier Center (Opener: Alex Machacek)
May 29 - San Diego/Ramona CA - Ramona Main Stage

Here's what's being said about The Security Project:

“A Scary Good Show!” – Progression Magazine

“Sound as good — at times maybe better — than even Gabriel nowadays.”– Time Out, NYC

“King Crimson’s Trey Gunn brilliantly injects a wicked warp to Gabriel’s melodic weave.”– G.A.S. Online

“TSP are a mind-blowing amalgam of disparate musical brilliance!” – Gabriel Researcher/Lilywhite Leigh

“Peter Gabriel wrote some of the finest most profound songs of his generation. The Security Project brings them to life with an authenticity that goes beyond mimicking the original recordings. They find the emotional core.” – Glenn Hughes

After the release of The Security Projects new live album and forthcoming West Coast tour, in the fall (October/November) the band will release a second CD of recordings (Live 2+, which is more live tracks combined with some studio tracks). They will then embark on a tour of the Mid-West and East Coast of the USA.

To discover what happens when he takes it out on the road watch the video here.

Viewers of the series can subscribe to the channel and pose their own questions in the videos comments area to be in with a chance of winning a Bax Bangeetar as well as getting their query answered.

A privately funded 501(c)(3) charity organization dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund has already raised over $1 million. Monies raised have been committed to the cancer research work of the T. J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research, the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life, and other cancer research projects. The recent passing of several high profile musicians to cancer has served to reinforce the commitment of the Dio Cancer Fund to support research and education that furthers early detection, prevention and treatment of prostate, colon and gastric cancers.

The Dio Cancer Fund also participated in the Inaugural Axes and Anchors cruise to the Caribbean in February. Members of the Fund's board hosted two live auctions where a variety of rock memorabilia was auctioned off to raise funds.

Derryl Gabel: Ultimate Virtuosity Mega Pack

The Derryl Gabel Ultimate Virtuosity Mega Pack
The Mega Pack includes all 27 of my instructional videos, the Fusion Solos eBook, the Visions and Dreams Song eBook, and my Interactive Guitar Technique eBook. I've put together a comprehensive package that is a culmination of nearly 30 years of study. I hold nothing back and show you unique ways of looking at the fretboard, how to increase speed, improvisation, and music theory. I cover different techniques such as legato, economy, sweep, and alternate picking, tapping, and string dampening.

Also covered is a methodical approach to learning chords and what scales work over chord types, chord comping, and substitutions.

I cover melodic ideas using the most useable scales such as the pentatonic, blues, melodic and harmonic minor scales, diminished, messiaen tritone, modes from the major scale and more. You'll learn how to "jazz up" your soloing using techniques such as side stepping, approach notes, encloser, and chromatics. You'll discover and learn how to apply the highly sought after "outside" harmonic concepts of jazz legends such as Allan Holdsworth, John Coltrane, and Charlie Parker.
There's a lifetime of learning packed into these videos. I've designed this series so that even if you are a relative beginner/intermediate you can learn and progress with these tutorials. If you are advanced, no problem. You will be more than satisfied. To read feedback from customers who bought my Mega Pack go to the Reviews tab on the product page. I've also posted some emails that I have received from customers here.

Here are just a few of the many positive reviews I've received for the Mega Pack

Pat Carmody from Owooso, MI

Joe Cuff of Lisbon, CT writes
"This series is unreal. There is so much information and ideas that I have not had previous knowledge of, or have helped me further understand concepts touched upon by my current instructor.
There are many instructional options out there on DVD, websites, YouTube, etc., but this series is hard to top. $250 is not pocket change, but if you are serious about guitar and want to expand your techniques and knowledge, this is money well spent."

Jon Sanders from Isle of Man writes

"Quite simply the finest modern Guitar tuition you can get...
Derryl is a supremely-gifted Musician. If you want to take your playing to the highest levels the purchase of this pack is a no-brainer!
All the concepts introduced by Derryl really do give any serious player an extraordinary springboard to help create their own unique style and form of Musicianship - it certainly has taken my own playing and 'voice' on the instrument to exactly where I want it to be (and it is continually developing). As a full-time Musician myself, I cannot speak highly enough of Derryl Gabel and his wonderful harmonic, melodic and rhythmic abilities.
Don't think about it... buy this now and be prepared to change your playing forever!!!"

Ralph Probst from San Francisco, CA writes
"Best value for the money. There's enough material to keep you learning for years. Top notch instruction by a top notch player and human being. I highly recommend this and all of his products."

George Papacostas from Whitestone, NY writes

See why professionals such as Pat Carmody, Dweezil Zappa, Tosin Abasi, Jack Zucker (writer of Sheets of Sound ), Scott Gailor, and Alex Hutchings are studying my DVDs.

I now have several formats to choose from

Ryan Roxie: Alice Cooper guitarist joins forces with guitar app OneHourMethod

Ryan Roxie: Alice Cooper guitarist  joins forces with guitar app OneHourMethod

April 5th, 2016, Helsinki/Frankfurt – The ingenious guitar chord app OneHourMethod joins forces with the guitarist Ryan Roxie, the no-nonsense guitar wizard for Alice Cooper and Slash´s Snakepit among others.

Mr. Roxie ran into OneHourMethod guitar chord app while performing in Helsinki, Finland, and was impressed by what he saw: “Understanding chords is one of the foundations to learning guitar and ultimately how to enjoy playing songs. Finally, an app that gives you in-depth knowledge of guitar chords and how to find them all over your guitar neck. A must for any guitar enthusiast – from beginner to consummate pro.”

Mr. Jarkko Luhtala, a guitarist and the brand manager of OneHourMethod comments on getting Ryan Roxie onboard as follows: “Our company is all about providing a guitarist the best possible tool for guitar chords. It means a lot to us, that a seasoned professional like Mr. Roxie joins us in this quest. He has already provided us with very valuable insights on our app.”

OneHourMethod is not another chord catalogue or a chord generator. It is an application for iPhone and iPad that teaches how to form any guitar chord. The app is suitable for every level, genre and style from very early stages onwards. An easy to approach interactive tutorial gets you started. Going through the whole tutorial part of the app takes only 15-30 minutes and after that the user will be able to start building own chords. Instead of being a library of pre-set grips, OneHourMethod gives all the theory and practical info needed for chord construction. It is a serious musical tool even for professional players that eliminates the need of chord lexicons, chord generators and learning irrational “dots on diagrams”.

“Constructing guitar chords is actually very simple”, says Mr. Reijo Hiltunen, the father and CEO of OneHourMethod. “Take a Em7 for instance. All you need to know is that it takes the root, minor third, fifth (optional), and minor seventh to make it. OneHourMethod app tells you this, and after that you will get to see all the possible ways to form that chord. Once you get the idea down, you really can build any chord in a fast and simple way, plus make limitless variations, inversions etc.”

The company behind OneHourMethod is a small start-up business, located in Finland, the land of top education, Angry Birds and HayDay: Complete Music RH Ltd. The OneHourMethod app went to the top of the Finnish App Store right after its release, and has hit top 5 in several European countries.
