Merry Christmas

A Fan: This is a really nice track worthy of any i built the sky release. With all the political correctness BS that has swept the world of late it's refreshing to see someone who isn't afraid to say Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas to you too.

NAMM: GearSecure - The end of lost or stolen guitars and gear?

(Los Angeles, California) GearSecure ( a newly launched company from
Los Angeles, California will introduce patented technology designed to be the first embedded anti-theft device for musical instruments and other assorted gear at NAMM 2017.

The technology provides a bridge between RFID and GPS technology providing help in instant recovery of lost or stolen gear. Demonstrations and inquiries can be made by visiting Hall D, Booth 2382. The company’s stated goal is “the end of lost or stolen”.

The company was started by Adam Mandel, one of the producers of the long-running live music show Ultimate Jam Night ( Mandel has enlisted the core team of musicians and others that turned Ultimate Jam Night into an internationally-known program. That team includes Quiet Riot bassist Chuck Wright; Drummer Matt Starr who has played with Ace Frehley and Mr. Big; Walter Ino of Survivor; Ira Black of Attika 7 and Westfield Massacre; and other musicians including Alex Kane of LSD and AntiProduct, and independent artist Brad Jurjens among others. These musicians will work alongside key manufacturers in the installation of the first industry device designed to be embedded at the point of manufacturing. Additional applications are designed for professional Luthiers and installers, tour management, and backline rental companies.

Management of GearSecure includes an interdisciplinary group of seasoned individuals with experience in international business including Robert Rich III, founder of Roar Logistics who is also an active musician.
“As someone who’s been involved in live music for many years, I’ve seen the devastation of instrument theft or loss first hand” said, Mandel. “After seeing a continuous stream of social media posts lamenting the daily theft of gear I looked into a bit more. What’s shocking is that in the U.S. alone, 1 Million instruments are stolen each year, and only 3% are recovered. I am committed to changing that statistic as quickly as possible” said, Mandel.

The GearSecure technology involves a small self-contained unit that provides a twenty year life span
with GPS utility and RFID accuracy. The unit is designed to be hidden in gear and then synced with
mobile devices, tablets, or personal computers. Individuals (or groups) can set a pre-determined
perimeter that when breached instantly sends an alert to a selected device. Once alerted, the user can
select a “track” mode which will allow the user to follow the path of the missing gear. If necessary,
authorities can be instantly alerted for recovery. The technology will be offered to consumers at a
yearly subscription price of $19.95 retail, which is far below typical yearly insurance and replacement rates.

Designed to be embedded and offered with new gear, the technology will also be immediately available for Backline and Tour management inventory solutions, and will eventually be released for the aftermarket through a certified installer network. Real-time demonstrations as well as a technology review will be available at NAMM Booth 2382 Hall D, at NAMM 2017.

PRS: Private Stock 20th Anniversary Wraps Up with Twelve Exquisite Models

(STEVENSVILLE, MD) December 20, 2016 – 2016 marked the 20th Anniversary of PRS Guitars Private Stock and to celebrate, PRS brought back the program that started it all: Guitars of the Month. Each month the Private Stock team of craftsmen let their creativity shine using some of the most exotic and exquisite tonewoods and inlay materials available including African ribbon mahogany, Madagascar rosewood, highly-figured curly maple, green ripple abalone, ziricote, and swamp ash. The cumulative result of the program is twelve extraordinary, highly collectible models, each crafted in very limited quantities and each bearing the Private Stock Eagle and engraved banner stating the commemorative month.

Available through select authorized PRS dealers and distributors, the Private Stock 20th Anniversary Guitars of the Month models are:
January – Hollowbody Bass 4 (6pcs)
February - McCarty 594 (26pcs)
March – Maple Top Singlecut Archtop (6pcs)
April – DGT Birds of a Feather Semi Hollow (20pcs)
May – 509 (10pcs)
June – Paul’s Guitar (10pcs)

September – 24 Fret McCarty Singlecut Trem (20pcs)
October – Lotus Knot Custom 24 (20pcs)
November – Singlecut McCarty 594 (20pcs)
December – Hollowbody II Piezo (12pcs)

“Celebrating Private Stock’s 20th Anniversary by revisiting the Guitars of the Month program gave the team the opportunity to showcase both innovation and specialization. These instruments are simultaneously art, musical Instruments, and treasured possessions to joyfully spend time with,” stated Paul Reed Smith.

At the PRS Guitars website, each model has its own web page with multiple photographs detailing the artistry and listing complete specifications. While most of these instruments were scooped up by collectors, guitar players, and guitar enthusiasts, there are still a small number available and each model page offers a list of dealers and distributors who carried the instruments.

PRS Guitars completed the first Private Stock on April 19, 1996. The twenty year old program started as a way to recapture the original essence of the PRS workshop with a small team making fewer guitars with more customization. With this mentality, Private Stock has allowed customers the opportunity to design the guitar of their dreams, and along the way Private Stock has also developed exclusive models and one-off instruments of their own design. In addition to customization opportunities, Private Stock instruments are built with the finest woods, materials, and attention to detail.

The original Guitars of the Month were cased between December 1994 and March 1996. They provided the opportunity to experiment with new ideas and led directly to the creation of the Private Stock program with the first “official” Private Stock instrument casing on April 19, 1996.

Jeff Kollman: COSMOSQUAD announce new album, 'The Morbid Tango', Kevin Chown as new bassist

December 21, 2016 - Los Angeles, CA progressive triumvirate COSMOSQUAD have announced the release of 'The Morbid Tango', the group's first new studio album since 2007's highly acclaimed 'Acid Test'. The album will be issued through Marmaduke Records on January 14, 2017 and features founding members Jeff Kollman (BOMBASTIC MEATBATS, GLENN HUGHES, MOGG/WAY) on guitar and Shane Gaalaas (B'z, DIESEL MACHINE, MSG) on drums, along with new addition Kevin Chown (TARJA, BOMBASTIC MEATBATS, PAUL GILBERT, DER ELEFANT) on bass whose musical association with Kollman goes back to the EDWIN DARE days in the early 90's.

States Chown: “I have known Jeff and Shane for a long time. I have performed with them so many times on our musical adventures through the years. To create 'The Morbid Tango', we directed that friendship to create a work of deep meaning, without a single word being spoken, that reflects our life adventure as dear friends - the good times and the bad, into what I personally consider to be the greatest musical achievement of my career. It reflects all that I am as a bassist, and it's an honor to, after all this time, dating all the way back to being the bassist back in the 90’s on some of the original demo tapes of what became COSMOSQUAD, that Jeff and Shane have now officially asked me to join them on their musical adventure, filling the shoes of the many other amazing bassists that have preceded me in this band. I am truly honored. I perform alongside some pretty amazing musicians in my many musical adventures, but there is nothing like music that is created with the deep trust of long time friends, all on the same mission to change the world with music! We have worked incredibly hard to create a work which is a statement as to the meaning of life itself. Every title tells the story, the intensity of the music capturing the emotion. We have been there for each other as friends through each of our own personal Morbid Tangos, and now we are on a shared mission to demonstrate that art, as it always has, leads to truth. I personally, CANT WAIT for people to hear this record. And I can’t wait to officially perform as a MEMBER of this long time institution. It's one of the greatest honors of my career.”

Adds Gaalaas: "It took awhile for the Cosmos to align itself once again but some things just happen all in good time….. Chime in Kevin Chown! From our early writing jams, it was evident we were onto something profoundly cosmic. We could’ve easily made 3 records from all the ideas we had… just flowed out naturally and uninhibited. We used a couple of first takes live off the floor in there which rarely happens these days but, it just worked! This record feels right for me because it incorporates so many things that I love about music. Firstly, being spontaneity and synergic energy. It’s like the soup broth: If you get that right off the bat, you’re in good shape. There are some masterful arrangements that really take the listener on a ride. Akin to life, it paralleled so much of the roller coaster craziness we had going on during this time and really stretches some stylistic boundaries far into the abyss. The guys played their asses off musically andJeff’s guitar brilliance takes it another step beyond. I love the balance between old school raw organic and modern production electronica. I think we found a nice recipe of both to keep the listener interested and curious as to what will happen next."

'The Morbid Tango' was conceived and recorded at Crumb West Studios in Simi Valley, CA, produced by the tandem of Shane Gaalaas and Jeff Kollman, and mixed by Gaalaas, with guest contributions coming from top LA session musicians Jeff Babko on keyboards, David Collier on percussion, and Jono Brown providing strings.

The album track listing reads as follows:

01. Morbid Tango
02. Cyclops
03. The Ballad of Rick James
