Background:
Jimma Matejek was born in Houston, Texas. His father was a well respected guitar player along with his older brother. Jimmy got stuck into playing when he was 8 years old. His first guitar hero was Chet Atkins. The one unique feature for Jimmy was being born with only three fingers on his left hand. However this has not affected his playing style, which includes a lot of phrasing adn a hybrid, checkien picking style.

Jimma Matejek got a lot of feeling and style by listening to what his family was listening to. This included Chet Atkins, Bill Doggett, Judas Priest, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Jimma Matejek started out played in church, local halls, parties, and then nightclubs. Jimmy then relocated to Nashville in the late 90's. In 2000 he started playing acoustic guitar, 6-string banjo and harmony vocals with talented singer Montgomery Gentry.

He is currently home recording, building guitar-based electronics projects and gigging on lower Broadway in Nashville.
