Alex Masi: http://www.myspace.com/alexmasi has been posting some out takes.... here's the reasoning behind the releases, Alex says:
...there are a number of pieces I recorded through the years that were never included in any of the albums...outtakes...they range from the days in DARK LORD all the way to my latest solo CD and the MCM stuff...obviously for some of these pieces there is a pretty solid reason as to why they remained in the vaults: not so great compositions, weak performances, poor production etc. but every once in a great while I like to go through some of the "lost" tracks and I'm amazed by some of these numbers...take the latest piece I just included on both of myspace(s)...the reason it was left off "late nights at desert Rimrock" was that it didn't quite match the rest of the album sonically...I had just started experimenting with samples and loops, synths etc. and the rest of "late nights" was a lot more traditional in its instrumentation...well, the tune rocks hard... John Macaluso played his ass off as usual and there are some remarkable ideas throughout the whole number...this is an important track for me because it points to the future, my ever present fascination with electronica and its possible marriage to heavy music, the project that's been in my mind for years and that just now I'm beginning to put together...not to mention the fact that one day I'll have to assemble all of the interesting outtakes from my past and release them on one or two CD's...
