Jonas Hörnqvist let me know what's he's up to:

Jonas Hörnqvist says:
I have good news for you :)

1) Starting from Feb 2010, I will have my own guitar column in the biggest guitar magazine in Scandinavia. The magazine is called FUZZ. My column is called "Blues 2000" and I will teach the readers of the magazine how to tear up the fretboard using the pentatonic scale and blues scale.

2) My second guitar book will be released in March 2010. The title of the book is "Soloteknik för rock och blues" (Solotechnique for rock and blues). Much like the first book, this one also teaches you how to go to the next level of your solo playing when using the pentatonic scale and blues scale. My first book "Soloteknik för elgitarr" (Solotechnique for electric guitar) is still one of the best selling guitar books in Scandinavia for electric guitar :)

It's 2nd take actually, 1st one was kind a...rubbish. :) Anyways, I recorded it since my good old buddy Laurie Monk asked me to, this is not my participation in competition, it's just for fun. Hope you'll like it and sorry for mistakes I made! :)

Muris is likely to be off to Japan later this year!

ELP: 1970's live show!!

Coming soon from

Emerson Lake &Palmer Live At the Lyceum 1970 DVD/CD Package

1970 saw the debut of the British progressive Rock band Emerson Lake &Palmer. The band had come together from three popular rock bands of the time, The Nice (Keith Emerson), King Crimson (Greg Lake) and Atomic Rooster (Carl Palmer). ELP, as they became known made its official live debut at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival in August 1970. Four months later in London the band were filmed at The Lyceum theatre by Lindsay Clennell with Nicholas Ferguson directing. The resulting film gained a theatrical release in February 1971 alongside films by The Strawbs and The Scaffold. The film captures what was then the real rawness of an Emerson Lake and Palmer show with a little bit of theatrical danger thrown in. There was a power cut during the performance however in the musical tradition of “The Show Must Go On”, the band continued, powered by generators used by television companies for outside broadcasts. The band would again commit a performance of Pictures At An Exhibition to tape in March 1971 at Newcastle City Hall. It was this performance that made up the official album of the same name which was released to the public as a budget release in December 1971. This package however will contain the DVD of the film and also the soundtrack from the film on CD of the December 9th 1970 concert at the Lyceum. Both DVD and CD will contain the entire show rather than the edited show that has been the norm on this release over the years. As 2010 will be the fortieth Anniversary of the formation of Emerson Lake and Palmer the band are due to reform for a number of high profile concerts.

News: ICMP and Shure song writing award

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) and Shure are delighted to announce the launch of the 2010 Shure Songwriting Award. Previously known as the Shure Creative Award and supported by Amy McDonald and K.T. Tunstall, the competition will be judged this year by the sensational singer/songwriter, Paloma Faith.

Paloma has taken the music world by storm this year releasing her debut album “Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?” With the release of her first single ‘Stone Cold Sober’ being brought forward a month early after UK radio leapt on it with such enthusiasm, she is proving herself to be a major new star!

So, if you are a singer/songwriter looking to emulate Paloma and make a career out of your talent, why not take part in this year’s award competition? First prize is a unique opportunity to attend, free of charge, the fantastic one-year Professional Diploma in Songwriting course at the ICMP, Europe’s leading school of modern music, worth over £5,000! And in addition, two runners up will win some amazing Shure gear.

Studying at the ICMP, you will be able to take part in regular live showcase events, professionally develop your talent and have direct access to leading industry professionals. The winner of last year’s award, Zemmy, has already played and performed at a range of high-profile London venues and has supported talented singer/songwriter Amy Studt on part of her UK tour.

To enter, all you have to do is upload an original song to the award website before April 2nd 2010. A combination of an expert panel of judges plus public voting will select a top 8 and then Paloma will be making her selection for this year’s winner! Commenting on the award, Paloma said:

“I'm really excited to be involved with the judging of the Shure Songwriting Award with the ICMP. I think that competitions like this are important to help nurture and support new talent!”
