Timothy Marconett: The Institute Awards 2012 Guitar Scholarships worth over £8,000

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, in partnership with their industry sponsors, held a series of scholarship live finals last week in which places worth over £30,000 were awarded for the Institute’s renowned Higher Diploma course.
For the Guitar Scholarship, sponsored by Yamaha and Total Guitar magazine, each finalist had an interview with a panel of judges followed by a five minute live performance with their fellow finalists and guests in the audience. The Institute is now delighted to announce that the award of the 2012 Guitar Scholarship has been made Timothy Marconett.
Timothy impressed the judges with his stylistic versatility and commitment to his instrument. Judge on the day and Institute guitar tutor Jay Stapley had this to say: ‘’We felt that his technical abilities as a guitarist were set in a context of musicality and he showed the entrepreneurial spirit that is son important a part of the modern musician’s skillset.’’

Timothy will now receive a full scholarship onto the Institute’s Higher Diploma guitar course starting in September, worth £5,450, with runner-up Henry Cook receiving a partial scholarship worth £2,500.
