Steve Hunter: retires from Alice Cooper touring band

Steve HunterHello all my peeps and fans. I have an announcement to make. I have spent many weeks mulling this over...losing sleep. For many reasons both personal and professional I have reluctantly decided not to join Alice Cooper onstage this year. None of the reasons has to do with my health which is very good at the moment. Nor do any have anything to do with my poor eyesight, because I was able to find ways around my impairment to enable me to perform and play guitar onstage. Nor is Alice any part of the reasons I have made this decision. He is a brother to me and we share a real history. I think it’s time I move on. I have a solo album to finish among other things. I will miss all the beautiful people I met last year. I will miss glancing over to my right and seeing Alice belting out 18 again. I hope you all understand and aren’t disappointed in me. But I think I have to do this. I hope to see you all out there again one day soon. Thanks for understanding and God bless!

Timmo Tolkki: bands from the middle league falling in the next 3-5

imo: I simply said that in the present market situation, it is not possible to earn an income by being a professional musician. My career spans over 20 years in Stratovarius plus the other works. So it was a simple rational decision. We are going to see more bands from the middle league falling in the next 3-5 years simply because record companies are dying themselves and they take the last bits there are to take and it's gonna make the situation even worse.
It was the same situation with Revolution Renaissance. Music business is firstly becoming boring and predictable and secondly it is dying.

Wayne Krantz: Howie 61 (Abstract Logix Records 2012)

After an overlong (and overdue) album-making period (June-October, ’11) in which musician Wayne Krantz played just one gig ( a transcendent thing in Philly with Ari Hoenig and Anthony Tidd), Krantz is currently putting a new band together and looking for gigs/touring in ’12, even though everybody says it’s already too late. But he seems pretty happy with the new disc (“Howie 61″) and is attempting to survive in the interim by doing more teaching than usual: at NYU, at The Collective, at Berklee, through on Skype, and even occasionally at his apartment in NYC if he would ever just answer email. If you’ve ever wanted to study with Wayne, it appears that NOW IS YOUR CHANCE.

News: RIP Whitney Housten

Shocking news. Only 48... I'm 49 today.
Whitney Elizabeth Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012) was an American singer, actress, producer, and model. At the time of her death, Houston was the most awarded female act of all time, according to Guinness World Records.[3] Her list of awards includes two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, among a total of 415 career awards as of 2010. Houston was also one of the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide.[4][5] Inspired by prominent soul singers in her family, including her mother Cissy Houston, cousins Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick, and her godmother Aretha Franklin, Houston began singing with New Jersey church's junior gospel choir at age 11.[6] After she began performing alongside her mother in night clubs in the New York City area, she was discovered by Arista Records label head Clive Davis. Houston released seven studio albums and three movie soundtrack albums, all of which have diamond, multi-platinum, platinum or gold certification.
