Alberto Rigoni: releases "Into THE BASS" limited edition CD

Alberto Rigoni releases "Into THE BASS" limited edition CD

“Into the BASS” is selection of songs from Italian bass player and composer Alberto Rigoni’s four studio albums (“Something Different”, “Rebirth”, “Three Wise Monkeys” and “Overloaded”).
With a range of influences from Dream Theater, Rush, YES to artists such as Michael Manring & Stu Hamm, "Into THE BASS" is an eclectic mix of instrumental tracks that shows the potential of the bass as more than a rhythm instrument. An aural journey of melody and groove that showcases a wide variety of genres covering progressive, rock, ambient and experimental, while maintaining the artist’s distinctive style.

The texture of the album is enriched by the participation of top class musicians such as Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree), Michael Manring, John Macaluso (ex Yngwie Malmsteen, ARK), amongst others.

“An album full of bass excellence” - Joel McIver (author and music critic)

"Alberto is a passionate artist and his music is rich and evocative" - Michael Manring (solo artist)

Tony Martinez: 20 Rock Licks with attitude

Download Link:

It's time to pull out your best guitar faces and adopt the classic power-stance position because these licks seriously ROCK and require you to summon every ounce of ATTITUDE you possess! Tony Martinez debuts; bringing you 20 of his top grittiest raw and 'all out' rock licks with something for both intermediate and advanced players.

These licks are less about accuracy and more about digging into the notes with raw tenacity and presence. Inside these 20 licks you'll find Tony mixing up major and minor pentatonics with the blues scale to produce a wide range of rock sounds. Making good use of the Mixolydian and Dorian modes with chromatic passing notes Tony combines technical ability with melodic and harmonic interest.

There are simpler phrases for the more intermediate players and streams of fast ascending sextuplets with tricky position shifts for advanced players. A few licks are reminiscent of the likes of Guthrie Govan and Steve Morse, with a few featuring tapping, pedal tones, three note per string alternate picking licks and plenty of classic rock shred.

For those of who are not at this level but are looking to reach this style of playing there are bonus lick notes to help you to understand the thinking behind some of these licks, and clear slow videos of each and every lick to help you study them and practise.

As ever, we have accurately transcribed every note and included the TAB/notation in the download, full backing tracks, audio solos and track notes.

Tony Iommi: supporters are to release a CD compilation tribute in honour of Black Sabbath guitarist

Tony Iommi supporters are to release a CD compilation tribute in honour of Black Sabbath's true heart and soul, legendary Riffmaster Iommi.

When Tony Iommi was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer in 2011, followed by extensive chemo and radiotherapy, it was a hard shock for his die hard. Millions of fans world wide took to social networking pages to express both dismay and support for him. The horrible illness wasn't able to stop him working on a new album. And still undergoing therapy, Tony managed to play over 84 concerts all around the world with Black Sabbath. At the moment his prognosis is believed to be good.

The first ever tribute to Iommi entitled "GREAT LEFTY: LIVE FOREVER. TRIBUTE TO TONY IOMMI GODFATHER OF METAL”. The compilation is an act of solidarity towards Tony from friends and fans. The Pals & Fans' tribute includes participation of well known artists, best Black Sabbath tribute bands from all around the world, and the bands and solo artists "children of Iommi" as having Iommi's music as their major influence. All the songs are kindly donated for the great cause. The profits from compilation sales will be destined to Lymphoma research charity of Tony's choice.

Some of the artists participating are: Dario Mollo (Tony Martin, Glenn Hughes) featuring Mark Boals (Savoy Brown, Malmsteen, Dio Disciples, Dokken), Mario Parga (Graham Bonnett, Tony Martin, Cozy Powell), Giuntini featuring Tony Martin, and a young talented artist Kyle Cousins, singer and songwriter, huge Iommi Fan, who also happens to have autism. He began his journey with autism at two years old by losing all his language. Through years of intensive interventions he has made continual progress; so much so that now he loves nothing better than to express himself onstage through his music. Cousins champions the autism awareness movement, being a source of hope and inspiration for the autism community. Kyle Cousins expresses his love and admiration to Black Sabbath's guitar legend, performing a song with Vinnie Appice (former Sabbath and Heaven and Hell drummer), Barry Goudreau (guitarist for Boston), Hugh McDonald (David Bromberg, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Lita Ford).
