Background:
Miki Birta was born in Budapest, Hungary. He started learning to play the guitar when he was 10. In 1996 he graduated from the Jazz Guitar Department of the Budapest College of Music.
Early influences include Angus Young, Al di Meola, John McLaughlin, Paco DeLucia, Wayne Krantz, Allan Holdsworth and Scott Henderson. THen in 1987 he changed the tuning on his guitars to E6, A5, D4, G3, C2, F1.
His first album came out in 1998 called Next Generation, reflecting his trio band. However the CD was not released. His second album came out in 2004 with the title Hey Kids! This time it’s a quartet project.
He is now a jazz-fusion guitarist, composer, arranger, guitar and jazz music theory teacher at the Kodolányi János University College.
