First impression of Bill Leverty? What a good guy!
Seriously, an all around good guy with so much
passion about not only his art, but his family and
friends as well.

We caught up with Bill early one June morning and he
exuded an energy and excitement about his own life
and that of his art it was simply inspiring. We could
have talked with Bill for hours, but alas we kept it to
under 30 minutes. It was a fantastic interview and we
can't wait to have the opportunity to speak with Bill
again int he future. Bill, if you're reading: Thanks so
much for you time man. I tw as truly an honor!

Bill Leverty interview

plus a great interview with sleaze rocks

I've always loved instrumental music, especially with the guitar as the primary instrument. I was very influenced by guys like Jeff Beck, Steve Morse, Allan Holdsworth, Al DiMeola, and many other instrumental guitarists. I've always wanted to put out an instrumental album but never had the songs. I recently was picked up by a new guitar company called Grem Guitars and they've put out my signature guitar. They asked me if I'd be interested in doing some clinics to demonstrate the guitars and I thought that I should write a few songs to show how great these guitars are.

Well, after I wrote three songs, and had such a great time writing and recording them, I figured that if I recorded another seven songs, I'd have an album. I certainly didn't make this album to try to make money. In fact, there is no way to market this music. The audience is out there, but letting the audience know that this album is available is next to impossible. This was a labour of love and if I make my recording costs back, I'll be happy.

Background:
Fans of Firehouse will be no stranger to the guitar talents of Bill Leverty. Bill was born in Richmond, Virginia. He got his first guitar at the age of 4. Bill also became Virginia State Diving Champion.

He struck gold with the band Firehouse, winning the American Music Award for Best New Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Band of 1991, Metal Edge Magazine's Best New Band of 1991, Young Guitar Magazine's Best Newcomer of 1991, and Music Life Magazine's reader's pop poll Best Newcomer of the Year 1992. The first album sold over 2 million, and our song "Love of a Lifetime" sold over 500,000 singles reaching #5. "Don't Treat Me Bad" went to #14. The Second album sold almost 1 million copies to date with "Reach for the Sky" getting into the top 20 and "When I Look Into Your Eyes" reaching #7.
