Happy New Year Friends!

I want to take a moment and thank you for all of your love and support in 2013. I truly appreciate you coming out to the shows, engaging in conversations on facebook, watching and sharing the videos, and listening to the music! You may not realize this, but it is YOU that keeps independent artists going through this infinite journey of creating and sharing. Thank you for being a part of this music community. :)

It is now 2014 and we have a lot to look forward to. For your personal life and goals, here are
5 Suggestions for the New Year!
1) Get focused on goals and how to accomplish them.
2) Make a list and ideal timeline.
3) Schedule in the things that are important to you, including personal and career advancements.
4) Expand your mind in every way possible. A favorite quote:
-"To learn, read. To know, write. To master, teach."
5) Further discover who you are and your place in this world. Once you find something keep going for it... even if it's a struggle at times, if it brings you joy and happiness it's ultimately worth it. But NOTHING worth anything is easy. It takes work, but rewards are to come if you keep at it and believe!

Hello friends!

I'm writing you beside a large sky window in Newark, NJ watching soft snowflakes come down. Contrastingly, In just a few hours I'll be back in the sunshine state in my native home of Tampa FL! One show TONIGHT at the Ringside Cafe in St Pete (9pm-12am), then off to play music on a cruise ship throughout the Caribbean for a month. While I'll be performing on the ship, it's also going to be an artist retreat for me to take everything I've learned recently and channel it into preparation for the next album in the works. Yes "Chasing Infinity" just came out, but I'm ready to bring more music to you!

There are many new things to share with you though I am about to jump on this plane. :) I'll touch base soon and look forward to sharing more news about recording projects in the works: one with David Ivory working on my vocal music, and another project beginning in January with Will Ackerman, founder of Windam Hill Records. It's been an incredible few weeks of learning and discoveries!!

Album Notes
Christie Lenée has been capturing a wide audience, touring frequently and delivering vibrant energy at every show across the US. Her unique guitar work is often compared to visionaries like Michael Hedges, Bela Fleck, Andy McKee, and John Mayer- fusing folky/funky playfulness with pop/rock inspired songs and virtuosic guitar compositions. She is, as Skope Magazine states, “a refreshing burst of unrestrained love and feeling… It’s simply a joy to listen to her spirit break free.”

Christie has been seen many times on stage with Tim Reynolds (guitarist for Dave Matthews Band) and a stellar cast of musicians including Amy Ray (Indigo Girls), Jeff Coffin, and Stanley Jordan. Her eclectic guitar skills have not only accompanied other great artists, but she has also played a multitude of instruments on her own records. An extensive original repertoire of both vocal and instrumental music showcases her extensive musical background, with studies including classical, jazz, rock, blues, folk and flamenco. Her innate ability to fuse these styles propels an eruption of harmonic fluidity, delivering profound expressions and a vibrant live performance.

Christie was recently endorsed by Engler Innovations to compose music for “The Engle,” a drumstick for guitar that launched onto the market in January of 2012. Being a compositional pioneer for this new product has inspired an abundance of innovative techniques and a unique percussive approach to the guitar.

“The Engle” is featured on Christie’s new instrumental album “Chasing Infinity,” often performed on a Veillette Soprano 12 string guitar called “The Gryphon” which creates a worldly sound unlike anything ever heard. Some have compared this sound to a choir of hammered dulcimers, or what you might hear if a 12-string guitar and a mandolin had a child. Combined with “The Engle” or “guitar hammer,” you may hear songs like "Raining a Miracle" or "Eastward Horizon" and have no idea what you’re listening to until seeing it visually. Even so, watching a performance can often fool the mind to think that you are hearing multiple instruments at the same time.

Adding to her percussive fingerstyle and two-handed tapping guitar collection, Christie recently decided to record her first completely instrumental album. This record was an enormous endeavor on her musical path as a composer and touring/recording artist, coming to completion of her 4th digitally released project out of hundreds of songs and compositions.

The album “Chasing Infinity” creates a compelling sonic journey through mountains of dynamics, harmonic textures, upbeat grooves and meditative moods. It also includes two bonus acoustic duets featuring Tim Reynolds, completely improvised in the studio with Tim on nylon and Christie on acoustic. But she’s not stopping now. In fact, she's preparing to go back into the studio to finish her next full band/vocal production already in the works. Extraordinary news! I just got a call to be notified that the album "Chasing Infinity" is completed with 1,000 copies ready for pickup! I can't believe it's finally here. The moment of holding it in my hands is going to be so rewarding for all of the extra hard work! I plan to get many of them in the mail right away and can't wait for the CD release party in Philly this Friday at World Cafe Live. I've been soaking up the sun in the Pacific Northwest enjoying the vibrant colors of sweet summertime. Portland is truly a paradise this time of year so it's been a nice relaxing few days... "relaxing" for me meaning practicing, writing, gardening, catching up on business work (while tanning) and doing a lot of yoga. I'm now completely recharged and ready to launch the summer tour!

I hope you had a great 4th of July and the opportunity to see fireworks. I told a friend yesterday that Independence Day can be everyday... the celebration of our right to choose. So my theme for the holiday is to expand, be all you can be, and set free within yourself!

Tonight I'll be continuing Independence Day Celebration at The Gemini in Lake Oswego for a live acoustic show. This beautiful venue just renovated the stage with new lights and an upgraded sound system so I'm excited to return there and play. Music goes from 9pm-12am Tonight @

Christie Lenée: Great news. I've been writing like crazy and have a ton of new music to share! Tonight I will be playing my first solo show in a little while- looking forward to sharing new music at one of my favorite venues, Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore. The show starts at 8pm, kicking off with a 40 minute set with Max Seidman, then Victoria Spaeth. I'll then close the night with songs, stories, and energetic live acoustic versions of tunes from the upcoming record.

Speaking of, we've remixed the tracks from the instrumental album several times. It was about to go off for mastering but the more I listened to it I felt like the tracks were a little too "treated." Aka: too much EQ and not organic enough. I've worked so hard on this project, not just for the recording but the heart-felt time put into the compositions. Considering this, I decided to go back in and mix them again to acheive the warm, organic quality of these acoustic tracks. Likewise the record release is postponed again, but we are almost there and I will keep you posted!

This Tuesday and Wednesday I'll be in Indie Adam's Morgan in DC for "Songwriters and Poets Night." Both evenings will be featuring 3 musical acts and one poet. Here is the info:

What an incredible weekend at Campout VA Women's Music Festival. It was such an honor to share the stage with many great artists, in addition to spiritually recharging in this gorgeous sacred land. I enjoyed meeting many great people, camping in the woods for the weeked, writing, and playing tons of music by the campfire. Welcome to all new friends from the festival!

There is a place of peace and serenity that many people are hungry for, that which others have achieved in a state of Meditation.... Love... or Inspiration. This feeling of heightened vibration can transcend through our daily lives. The Engle and Gryphon Guitar are such a beautiful combination! Here is "Raining a Miracle" from the upcoming instrumental record. This piece was a discovery of using an ostinato pattern on the lower strings with The Engle, while tapping the upper strings with my left hand. It felt like a miracle hence the name.
