CHARLY SAHONA - NAKED THOUGHTS FROM A SILENT CHAOS
Genre - Progressive Metal
Charly Sahona is best known as the guitarist in the modern French progressive metal band Venturia. Late 2008 saw Charly begin work on what has become his debut solo album entitled “Naked Thoughts From A Silent Chaos”. This 8 track release is built around heavy riffs, catchy vocal lines and crazy solos. Comparisons can be made if one was to fuse Dream Theater with Muse and 30 Seconds To Mars. This album offers a fresh sound, modern and direct, heavy and begs to be heard.

MASTERMIND - INSOMNIA
Genre - Progressive Rock
Progressive rock band MASTERMIND is back with their first full length album of original music in almost a decade. “Insomnia” is the band’s seventh album and marks the album debut of vocalist Tracy McShane. Since their formation in New Jersey by brothers Bill and Rich Berends in 1986 the band have become synonymous with delivering original sounding progressive rock with diverse arrangements and room for a healthy dose of experimentation and combines with the keyboard interplay of Jens Johansson for a musically interesting package.

Six years on from his last studio album ‘Messenger Of The Gods’ keyboard virtuoso Mistheria is hard at work with the recording of his new 11 track neo-classical / progressive metal album entitled set for release in the second half of 2010 (tbc).
Mistheria, the keyboardist of choice for Bruce Dickinson on the ‘Tyranny Of Souls’ album, has pulled in a number of great names for 'Dragon's Fire' in vocalists John West (Artension/ex Royal Hunt), Mark Boals (ex Malmsteen), Rob Rock(Impellitteri), Lance King, and Titta Tani (Astra). Guitars come courtesy of George Bellas (Ring Of Fire, Mogg/Way),Roger Staffelbach (Artension/Angel Of Eden), Neil Zaza and Emir Hot. The rhythm section comprises of drummer John Macaluso (ARK) and bassist Dino Fiorenza.
Some working track titles for the album include ‘Fire & Flames’, ‘Killing The Pain’, ‘The Power Of One’ and ‘Chopin Fantasy’with the rough demos already showing this will be an essential release for fans of early Artension, classic Malmsteen and Symphony X.
Last week George Bellas recorded all his guitars and John Macaluso is currently in the process of tracking his drums and has just checked in with the following, "I just did half the tracks for Mistheria's album and it came out amazing! Over the top with heavy groove and orchestrated kicks everywhere. I've got a really fat drum sound, its like Bonham playing double bass in an orchestra. You will dig it I think!".
More updates on the progress of ‘Dragon Fire’ to follow soon.

Richie Kotzen at the Sam Ash guitar clinic, July 2, 2009 in NYC. Another RK fan and friend of mine, Robi, asked Richie to play this ... and he did... This one's for you Robi.
Following the success of last years UK Tour, Richie Kotzen has just announced three UK dates for June 2010 as part of his World Tour of the new ‘Peace Sign’ Album. Last October saw the first live dates that Richie had played in the UK since 2004 resulting in a ‘Sold Out’ London performance.
Richie is a guitar virtuoso who has recorded on Mike Varney’s Shrapnel Label, recorded and toured with Multi Platinum bands Poison and Mr Big, played in Keanu Reeves band Dogstar and played as a solo artist as the opening act for the Rolling Stones ‘Bigger Bang’ tour in Japan in 2006. Richie has amassed a 30 plus album discography.
He is one of a very few artists who has been graced with not one but two Fender signature guitars.
However, unlike most virtuoso guitarists, Richie’s material is not full bore shred rock. Instead he writes and sings soulful songs that bring to mind the very best of both early 1970’s rock, and the current crop of emerging young blues rock guitar players. His voice has been compared to Steve Marriott, Paul Rodgers and Chris Cornell.
The UK tour dates are:
June 17th - 02 Academy Islington, LONDON
June 19th - Club Academy, MANCHESTER
June 20th - The Classic Grand, GLASGOW
