Lucky Singh: Lucky Live 5 #3

Lucky Singh Live ! You know how it works now folks, Lucky has to play along with songs of our choice with NO practice time at all ! Great fun, at least for us !!

In song 4 of 5, Lucky tackles one of the fastest and technical songs of all time, The Gargoyle by Paul Gilbert. This is 30 notes a second in places, but the shred is tempered with flowing melodies and Bachesque rhythms. Lucky has heard this several times but has genuinely never played it. We threw it in just to see how he would cope ! My all time favourite Lucky Live track.

Kostas Karamitroudis: gus g ultimate-guitar interview

When you received that email from Ozzy's management, did you have to take a second look so to speak? Because you possibly couldn't believe your eyes?

Oh yeah, man. I didn't sleep for two days (laughs). I was freaking out.

Once you auditioned, what happened from there?

Once I auditioned, they actually asked me if I wanted to come back and play with Ozzy at an event, which was my first gig with him. It was BlizzCon, which was in Anaheim, California last summer. BlizzCon is a convention organized by Blizzard Entertainment, the company that publishes 'Warcraft' and video games like that. That's where we played.

How did playing with Ozzy at BlizzCon in the summer of 2009 lead to you playing on 'Scream'?

It was a day-to-day situation, really. After that, I went home and then as soon as I got home, Ozzy's management said "Ozzy has another event, the Sunset Strip Music Festival. Can you come back and do that one?". I replied "Sure, of course", and I went back and did that one. While I was in L.A., I went down to Ozzy's house and he played me his new record - 'Scream'. He said "I'd love to have you record some solos", so I listened to the material, played some solos, and then went back home. Nearly a month or two passed by and Ozzy's management contacted me again, saying "We like what you did, and we'd like you to actually record everything from scratch and do all the guitars. Not only the solos, but all the rhythm tracks and everything". It was a day-to-day thing; they never really forced me to do anything. They just played it by ear.

Adam Moore: After School Guitar Club new CD

Fusion, pop, rock and progressive tunes from Adam Moore's catalogue rearranged and performed on lots of acoustic guitars. Includes some new pieces completed especially for this project.

Conceived, produced, engineered and performed by Adam Moore at The Birthing Pool on six days between 18th and 29th August 2010. The tracks use anything between 5 and 13 guitars. Each part is played on an Ovation 1861 with Martin SP Strings direct into the desk with a little compression. No track took more than two hours to record and any new ideas were added to the song in that time. This is work with purpose.

Hooligan Dance is taken from the album Curious Liquid (Evesound Music, 2004)
Inca and I Will Be Gone are taken from the album Endless Clamour (Evesound Music, 2007)
Fuchsia, The Knot Garden, Empress in the Beginning and Lo’s Orchard taken from the album Regent (Evesound Music, 2010) buy

Lucky Singh: Lucky Live 5

Lucky Singh - Live - 5 !

You know how it works now folks, Lucky has to play along with songs of our choice with NO practice time at all ! Great fun, at least for us !!

In song 1, Lucky has a super crack at Beat It by Michael Jackson. Very fast solo by Eddie Van Halen, and with the guitar out of tune for the song (deliberate, Ed) it proves a handful, but Lucky is up to the job as always !

Check out the ad lib towards the end, Eddie would be proud !
