Gary Husband: Dirty and Beautiful Vol 2/Featuring Allan Holdsworth, John McLaughlin, Jan Hammer, Wayne Krantz, Jimmy Herring, Alex Machacek, Mike Stern

Astract Logix Label Release. Ships February 15, 2012

Multi-dimensional drummer, keyboardist, composer and arranger Gary Husband hits his stride with Dirty & Beautiful Volume 2, his latest release on Abstract Logix Records. Dirty & Beautiful Volume 2 features an explosive all-star line-up of guest musicians such as John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Jan Hammer, Robin Trower, Jimmy Herring, Wayne Krantz, Mark King, Alex Machacek and Mike Stern.

Gary Husband Dirty and Beautiful Album Story

Dirty & Beautiful Volume 2 does not merely pick up where 2010's Volume 1 left off. Volume 2 expands upon Gary's musical vision of creating music that is passionate and sophisticated, yet infused with grit and rawness. The mix of Husband originals and cover tunes are driven by the combination of the dynamic powerhouse drumming, ferocious lead lines and distinctly evocative keyboard harmony that altogether define Gary Husband's "multiple threat" of a musical voice.

Selected highlights of Dirty & Beautiful Volume 2 are FRED 2011: A reworking of the classic Allan Holdsworth song with Holdworth on guitar and synth-master Jan Hammer taking an extended fire breathing solo. SULLEY: a stompin' rocker with the great John McLaughlin on guitar and bassist Mark King getting down and dirty. YESTERNOW EPILOGUE: guitarist Robin Trower continues his Strat-soaked blues rave-up that was teasingly hinted at on YESTERNOW PREVIEW from Volume 1. Alex Machacek deliciously smouldering on his self-penned LOCK, STOCK & TWO SMOKING BROTHERS. ENGLAND GREEN: an evocative Husband original with Jimmy Herring playing the lyrical theme on guitar. NEW BLUES, OLD BRUISE: a John McLaughlin composition given a jazzier edge featuring rising tenor sax star Sean Freeman. Not to mention other new GH originals featuring the angular intelligence of Wayne Krantz and the fiery, electric bop of Mike Stern.

Gary Husband Dirty and Beautiful Vol 2 Sampler by abstractlogix.

With a roster of top-tier musicians and stellar performances, Gary Husband's Dirty & Beautiful Volume 2 promises to be one of the most musically exciting and musically rewarding releases of 2012.

Rory Gallagher: re-issue the first six original Rory Gallagher albums announced

Sony Music in association with Capo Records and Legacy are proud to re-issue the first six original Rory Gallagher albums in chronological release date order – “Rory Gallagher” (1971), “Deuce” (1971), “Live! In Europe” (1972), “Blueprint” (1973), “Tattoo” (1973) and“Irish Tour ’74” (1974). These six seminal re-issued albums celebrate 40 years since the birth of Rory’s solo career.

Read the official press announcement here -
Rory Gallagher was a musician like no other. He was, and still is, one of the world’s greatest guitarists, singer/songwriters and live showmen. His guitar playing is an inspiration to some of today’s hottest guitarists including Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Brian May, Johnny Marr, and The Edge.

“The man who changed my musical life was Rory Gallagher, I picked up a guitar because of him.” – Johnny Marr

Each of the six milestone albums were released during Rory's most prolific years (1971-74), when he recorded and produced them in the short space of three years. The albums are re-released in digipack form, with newly restored original cover art. The audio has been re-mastered from the original ¼” inch tapes, true to how Rory intended it to sound. Each album includes exclusive sleeve notes personally written by Rory’s brother and former tour manager “Donal Gallagher”, journalist “Roy Hollingworth”, and legendary rock photographer “Mick Rock”.

Itsuka Yamasaki: she's got the zany blues for the Stetsbar Competition Autumn 2011

Many thanks to for the use of the backing track.

If anyone is interested in the gear used, I'm playing an American Standard telecaster with the Stetsbar installed. I really wanted to use my amp to record this but our neighbours were home so I decided against it. Instead I used BOSS ME-25 connected to the audio interface.

I am quite new to using the whammy bar, but I absolutely love it. I just hope I get better at using it.

I'm still working on my timing...

Bryan Beller: Aristocrats man joins Jam Track Central

BB Joins JTC Bryan Beller is one of the most respected and sought after bass players that the US has to offer. With a frenetic, multi-faceted 20-year career as a bassist, composer, writer and clinician he has earned a tasteful reputation as a hired gun bassist for adventurous rock guitarists, hence being both Steve Vai and Mike Keneally's right hand man as well as a spell working with Dweezil Zappa. He is also the bass player of The Aristocrats, alongside our very own Guthrie Govan....more news to follow on that very soon!
So it is with great pleasure that we introduce Bryan to the JTC artist roster. He has presented us with 5 amazing bass tracks taken from his critically acclaimed 'Thanks In Advance' album. These tracks will test you to the max. The tracks are a mixture of incredible jazz/rock fusion and many of them are over 7 minutes long, so this is a real bass lesson from a master. With completely accurate TAB, you can dissect each track as it interweaves from one riff to the next.
Each track is available individually, but if you want to save yourself a few £££ then you can purchase the Bryan Beller Bundle 1.
Bass is time to warm those fingers up, as these tracks are gonna keep you busy for a very long time!

Mark Reale: Riot Guitarist passes away RIP

On January 25, 2012, Reale died of complications related to Crohn's disease. Reale, who had Crohn's disease most of his life, had been in a coma since January 11th due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Reale’s Riot bandmates have issued the following statement: “To friends and fans of Mark Reale and Riot, we are deeply saddened to confirm that Mark has lost his battle with a lifelong illness. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated by Mark’s family, friends, and bandmates at this difficult time".

Mark Reale (June 7, 1955 – January 25, 2012) was an American heavy metal guitarist best known for being the only constant original member in the band Riot.
Mark was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1955. He grew up listening to The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Ritchie Blackmore and lists George Harrison as one of his greatest influences. After attending concerts by Ronnie Montrose, Rick Derringer and Edgar Winter he decided to become a rock guitarist, forming the band Riot in 1975 who are still active today. Many music magazines and critics have called him one of the most underrated heavy metal guitarists ever.

Mark Reale has been the principal songwriter and main creative force behind Riot starting with the band's 1977 debut album Rock City. The group's most acclaimed album was 1981's seminal Fire Down Under, the last of three studio albums to feature original vocalist Guy Speranza. Other notable records include Restless Breed (1982), the band's comeback album, Thundersteel (1988), and its follow-up, The Privilege of Power (1990). Riot's most recent album was Army of One in 2006. Riot has toured all around the world and been a support act for major acts such as Kiss, AC/DC, Sammy Hagar, Molly Hatchet, and Rush while maintaining a particularly strong fanbase in Japan and Continental Europe.

After Riot's temporary breakup following the Born In America (1983) release, Reale formed a short-lived outfit named Narita with former members of S.A. Slayer, including future Riot bassist Don Van Stavern. The band recorded a sole demo in 1984 before calling it quits. Reale decided to re-activate Riot which led to a new record deal with CBS Records and the Thundersteel album in 1988. In 1998, Reale co-founded the group Westworld with vocalist Tony Harnell of TNT fame. Westworld released three studio albums and one live disc between 1999 and 2002.
