Starbound: instrumental metal album in the vein of Cloudkicker, Miroist, Chimp Spanner

instrumental metal album in the vein of Cloudkicker, Miroist, Chimp Spanner etc. The concept of the album is to be a soundtrack to a story, so the music is meant to be a mixture of ambient and attention grabbing, with the heavy chugging balanced against lots of sounds over the top. The story is meant to be of an alien race which chooses to leave their home, overcome some challenges, including a final journey through The Traverse, before ending on an ambiguous note - was it the right choice?

Joey Stuckey: "Blind Man Drivin'" Official Music Video (with Narration)

Blind Guitar Legend and Producer Joey Stuckey To Release New Audio Described Video

Macon, GA - On June 11th, blind guitar legend, recording artist and producer Joey Stuckey was named Jazz Artist of the Year at the 5th annual Georgia Music Awards. Never knowing how to slow down, Joey is busy working on a variety of projects including writing music with his good friends from the UK Charlie Hoskyns (The Popes), Will Morrison (Modern English) and Paul McGuiness (The Pogues). However, currently Stuckey is most eager to share his latest music video which has been audio described for the blind. “To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time a music video has been audio described or narrated for the blind. There have been a hand full of movies, like 'The Passion of the Christ' but, I've never heard of a music video getting the same treatment,” says Stuckey. Audio description takes a narrator telling the story of what is happening on the screen. It is kind of like an audiobook, but in this case, it is directly relating the story being told by pictures or video in spoken word form so that the blind can also enjoy the antics and adventure of Joey and his band as he desperately tries to get to his concert. Complete with a thrilling car chase, this video is a lot of fun to watch and the blues guitar and vocal prowess of Stuckey can't be denied. Special thanks to Delaney Holliman and Doug Diamond for the video production and friends Nash and Jenny Mayfield for writing and narrating the video. The video and single “Blind Man Drivin'” were released last year while Joey was on tour in the UK, where the song was the official theme song for the first ever Visually Impaired Musicians' Lives Conference, which took place at the University College of London.

About Joey Stuckey: Joey Stuckey is a chart topping and award winning blind recording artist, producer, sound engineer, educator and media personality. He is an official Gibson endorser and is also the Official Music Ambassador for his hometown of Macon, Georgia. Stuckey is a brain tumor survivor and loves to tell his story of success and overcoming adversity through his music and humor.

Lalle Larsson, Krister Jonsson: Karmakanic are set to release their fifth album 'DOT' on July 22nd, 2016

Sweden-based progressive rockers Karmakanic are set to release their fifth album 'DOT' on July 22nd, 2016. Now they are pleased to reveal the first lyric video for an edit of the originally 23-minute epic track "God the universe and everything else no one really cares about, Pt. I (Edit)",
Jonas Reingold had this to say about the track, which also features his colleague from The Tangent, Andy Tillison, on Hammond organ:

"When you are trying to compress a 30-minute prog epic into 6 minutes, you know that you are up for a difficult task. What parts should be in it? Will the fans get the lyrical content? Can I somehow make a coherent piece of music in this format? Well, that's really up to the listener to decide but I feel strongly that the parts I put together really work well in combination with this fantastic video. I hope you will enjoy this as much as I did while working on this. Soon you all will hear the whole song, but until then, enjoy!!!" - Jonas

Jonas Reingold (Bass)
Morgan Ågren (Percussion)
Lalle Larsson (Keyboards)
Krister Jonsson (Guitars)
Göran Edman (Vocals)
Nils Erikson (Vocals+keyboards)

The album is available for pre-order at these links:

Oli Brown: Raveneye Announce Debut Album Release - NOVA

Oli Brown: Raveneye Announce Debut Album Release - NOVA

Out September 23 – via New Album Deal with Frontiers Music Srl

(Los Angeles, CA – July 14, 2016) Following their wildly successful debut EP, Breaking Out, UK trio RAVENEYE are set to release their full length debut album, NOVA, worldwide on September 23 via their new label, Frontiers Music Srl.

Since forming in 2014, UK-based rock band RAVENEYE has toured globally, supporting bands such as The Darkness, Slash, Deep Purple, Halestorm and Blues Pills. The band has headlined their own tours through Europe and America and have performed at major international rock festivals such as Download Festival (UK), Hellfest Open Air Festival (France), Azkena Rock Festival ARF (Spain), Rock For People (OFFICIAL) (Czech Republic), Louder Than Life (U.S.), and Aftershock Festival (U.S.), and will also perform at this year’s Maximus Festival in Brazil and Argentina this September. Their incendiary live shows have captivated crowds and put them on the map as a ‘must see live’ band.

Warren Riker (Lauryn Hill, Michael Jackson, Down, Anders Osborne), who engineered the debut EP, took over as producer to capture the band’s true sonic identity on NOVA. Together, Oli Brown, Aussie bassist Aaron Spiers and renowned drummer Gunnar Olsen worked at Water Music in Hoboken, New Jersey for 25 days and created an eleven-track album that pushed the band beyond its boundaries and into new ground. From the hard hitting riffs of “Inside”, “Madeline” and “Hero” to the raw sounds of “Wanna Feel You” and “Oh My Love’ to the stark reality of life and death in “Eternity”, NOVA takes you on a journey of defiance, pain, hate, death and, yes, love.

With songs filled with deep, bluesy grooves and infectious hooks that invoke giants such as Led Zeppelin and Soundgarden, RAVENEYE(who formed just two years ago) continue to win fans over around the world with their huge sound and killer live shows. The extensive touring in 2015 laid the ground work for a hungry fan-base and, this past April, one year after the release of their debut EP, Breaking Out, the band debuted on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.

The critical acclaim has been just as loud with Classic Rock Magazine saying, "(RavenEye) deliver a thunderous set of the kind of feet-planted, head-bobbing groove-rock that has paid Pearl Jam’s cable bills for twenty-five years." And Rock at Night said of the Houston stop,“…their stage show was INSANE to watch!”

When RAVENEYE formed two years ago, the then 25 year old, Oli Brown, singer and multi-award winning guitarist, had already released four solo albums and toured the world for 10 years with legends such as Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter and Joe Satriani.Vegas24Seven said of the RAVENEYE frontman, “Oli Brown captivated the audience”, Mojo Magazine hailed Oli as, “the hottest young pistol in British blues” and Classic Rock Magazine described him as "one of the best and brightest guitar heroes performing in the world today". RAVENEYE’s live performances take their present and future fans on a journey to the next level.

Jazz-Rock Renegade Dean Brown Unleashes Expansive, All-Star Roller Coaster ROLAJAFUFU

Acclaimed Guitarist and Composer Releases Fiery, Uncompromising
Fifth Album Featuring Dennis Chambers, Hadrien Feraud, Brandon Fields,
Craig Handy, Gary Husband, and Marvin “Smitty” Smith

Guitarist and composer Dean Brown has always done things his way. Nowhere is that in greater evidence than on ROLAJAFUFU, his fifth album as a leader. The title is a playful acronym that encompasses rock-latin-jazz-funk-fusion, the universes Brown explores on this diverse, kinetic recording. Brown’s fiercely independent streak is also exemplified by the fact that this album was funded by his denizens of fans worldwide via PledgeMusic.

It’s Brown’s first self-released album, after four celebrated previous discs on the ESC label. He initially embarked on a successful solo career in 2001 after establishing himself as one of the most versatile, first-call virtuoso guitarists in the jazz, rock and funk worlds. Just a few of the global icons he’s worked with include Marcus Miller, The Brecker Brothers, Billy Cobham, David Sanborn, Bob James, George Duke, Roberta Flack, Lenny White, and Joe Zawinul. His collective experience playing with these legends is mirrored in the ambitious nature of ROLAJAFUFU.

The 11-track album is Brown’s most personal statement to date. It takes inspiration from James Brown, John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix, Sly Stone, and McCoy Tyner and channels it into multifaceted pieces ranging from the piercing to the poignant.

The album’s core, world-class band includes drummer Marvin “Smitty” Smith, keyboardist Gerry Etkins, and a rotating cast of bassists including Hadrian Feraud, Linley Marthe and Ernest Tibbs. Other key players include drummer Dennis Chambers, keyboardist Gary Husband, and saxophonists Brandon Fields and Craig Handy. All of them have been members of Brown’s performing units in recent years.

“Virtually everyone that played on the record already knew the pieces inside and out because they had played them live,” says Brown. “When it came time to put the record together, everyone just laid it down and nailed it. It’s an album made by people that lived and breathed these songs for weeks and months.”

The acronym ROLAJAFUFU speaks to the album’s wide-ranging perspective. But Brown wasn’t exploring myriad musical worlds simply for the sake of it.

“I really wanted this album to capture all of my musical personas in one place for the first time,” says Brown. “Every one of these genres, and the intersections between them, represent the compositional interests I have. What each piece has in common is that every one of them started with a strong melody. From there, I built the song around that core, rather than throwing in things just because they sound cool or clever. There’s lots of burning playing on the album, but it’s all filtered through serving a specific vision. Everything in my pieces serves a purpose so I can tell stories through the work.”

Part of the proceeds from Brown’s PledgeMusic campaign went to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a charitable organization determined to ensure public schools in the U.S. continue having the ability to provide music education in the wake of government cutbacks.

“I firmly believe music should be an essential part of the educational process for kids of all ages,” says Brown. “It hurts me to know many kids across the country no longer enjoy the significant benefits music education delivers. It’s why I wanted my album to help create awareness for this issue, as well as contributing to the solution.”

Brown’s perspective is that the power of music extends far beyond what goes into people’s eardrums. He experiences that every time he writes and performs. Anyone that’s seen Brown live understands how that translates into a charged, emotional experience that leaves no doubt about his intimate relationship with the muse. It’s common to see Brown leaping about with wild abandon at his gigs to the delight of the audience.

“I feel like I’m tapping into a higher energy when I write and perform. It’s about respecting the muse. I try not to think about it too deeply and just channel the flow. It’s about being open to inspiration and enabling an energy conversation to take place. I’m not interested in filters. ROLAJAFUFU is about pure inspiration. I’m thrilled with the end result and hope it inspires everyone who hears it as well.”
