Background:
Aurelien Budynek was born in France in 1983 and started playing guitar at age 9. After several years of private study, he attended Bordeaux's CIAM.

In 2000, he formed the band aLkemy that toured extensively and went in the studio in mid 2002 to record their debut album "da 63 projekt". Alkemy went on to sign with Canadian label Unicorn Records.

Aurelien is also a sideman with CIAM's Big Band "Big Band Gironde" and jazz/funk experiment "Haagen jazz". He was also a full time private guitar teacher at Leognan's music school until june 2002.

In september 2002, he won the coverted Berklee World Tour Scholarhsip. He moved to Boston, MA and started studying at Berklee College of Music, focusing on jazz, rock, world music and improvised music. He studied privately with guitar mentors such as David "Fuze" Fiuczynski, Chris Buono, Mick Goodrick, Jon Finn, Bruce Bartlett and in high level ensembles with Dave Samuels, Alain Mallet, Jamey Haddad and Bret Willmott.

He was awarded the "Guitar department achievement award in Outstanding musicianship" in March 2005. He graduated from the college, majoring in Performance, in December 2005.

His all round abilites led him to form his own projects, Aurelien Budynek Acoustic trio, Aurelien Budynek Electric trio and formed a US version of fusion / progressive band aLkemy.
