Carrying on from the liberal purloining of news from Rich at guitar channel... Hi Rich... I hope you had a great Christmas! Rich noted that Jimmy is to be featured on an upcoming release in 2008

The band is excited to announce their new CD "Free Somehow" will be available online and in stores early 2008. The CD was recorded at the Compass Point Studios by Terry Manning. Most of the songs on this CD have not been performed live yet. Here's a peek at the track listing and a streaming studio version of "Flicker," which was performed live on tour in 2007, on the audio player.

Jimmy Herring formerly of The Dead and Aquarium Rescue Unit, is joining his old friends wide spread panic in September. Thanks to fellow guitar blogger Rich Murry from the Guitar Channel for spreading the news.

26-04-2006:
Jimmy will be doing some shows in May/June with Bobby Lee Rodgers, Jeff Sipe, Neal Fountain and Mark Van Allen. The working name of the band is Herring/Rodgers/Sipe. They are currently working on a band name. See the Tour Dates page for more information.

Background:
Jimmy Herring was born in 1962,Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA. He started playing guitar at the age of 13. After five years he attended a Berklee College of Music Summer Session. Then later in 1984, Jimmy attended the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Hollywood, California. In 1986 he got a teaching job at Atlanta Institute of Music where he met drummer Jeff Sipe.

In 1989 Jimmy joined Aquarium Rescue Unit. Later he joined Frogwings, then in 1998 joined Jazz Is Dead. Leter in 2000 in joined Project Z. In 2002 he joined the Grateful Dead.
